Hey, I guess it did happen this week.

Yes, after weeks, and weeks and weeks of Brock being put over Angle in every way possible, it has finally happened. For the first time in this multi-month feud, Kurt Angle has actually gotten an advantage over Brock Lesnar. The score now stands 173 to 1, but whatever, it's time to celebrate.

Me personally, I stopped caring a couple of weeks ago, especially after the injury. But, once again, I ask, can this one thing tonight save the feud?

I would have to say that as long as Brock gets zero offense next week, this feud can get a "pretty decent" final rating. Not as good as it could have been, in all honesty, not good at all, but I don't think they have ruined Brock/Angle for Angle's possible return. They did all they could to salvage something they had set out to ruin, and I think they did an okay job.

I thought the Angleslam on the chair was pretty damn swank, but I'll agree, this could have been a MUCH better feud.

Kurt being limited to what he can do in the ring really screwed this up. Overall I don't think they've build this up very well.

I think it would have made more sense for Kurt to go after the ankle rather than the ribs for the psychology of the match, but to be honest I'm just hoping Kurt gets through it safely and is able to return after his surgery.

I kind of disagree, becaus it was fucked before Kurt got injured. Since he's been injured, it's gotten a little better each week. (Before the cage match, it was getting steadily worse every week) The cage match was a disaster, but better than it could have been. Last week's whatever the hell that was was still bad, but showed some improvement. This week has been the only highlight in the whole thing.

At this point, take what you can get.

But they only did it so Brock can look even better when he owns Kurt at Mania.

Well, that's the basic point of a normal feud. Heel tortures and possibly injures face, Face comes back and definitively beats heel after overcoming all the odds.

Unforunately, the WWF writers evidently misread that basic premise in The Great Big Book of Duh.

It's a play on that Brock's ribs were injured when he lost to Big Show.

Except

a) No one cares

b) What the hell oes Angle do to work the ribs?

c) This screams "Extended Bearhug"

Which means it's going to be face owns heel for a month. Heel injures face like a week before the ppv. face owns heel anyway.

Not that much better.

Plus I am sure Brock will own Team Angle again one more time before WM.

I'm not there either but it's a logical move in a way since Heyman is the connective work in both. Knee work is much better, just because it connects the whole David/Goliath storyline with the anklelock.

Oh God, that instills NO confidence in me about the upcoming match... I may be in the minority, but I was less than enthralled with the Brock/Angle interactions at NWO, with all the sleepers, chokes and chinlockery. That was the first wrestling interaction between the two, they should not be doing things that we criticize HHH or Christian for. I hope that wasn't a sign for things to come at Mania.

No, it's not, but considering that they were well on their way to having Brock go over every single week until the show, it's an improvement.

Didn't Angle go over last week by out-smarting Brock?

No. Angle only kind of outsmarted him, looked like a total pussy, and Eric got killed so Brock could still look strong

What worries me more than anything else is that they've banned interference because "You owe the fans the greatest match ever!" Now if the match isn't on par with Savage-Steamboat, even the marks are going to be pissed.

The only reason, and I mean the only reason I will watch the Lesnar/Angle match at WM is because it may very well be Kurt Angle's last match. And the fact that it's with Goldberg Redux makes me sad.

If Kurt Angle wasn't injured and we didn't all know exactly who will win at WM because of it, this week would be a step in the right direction. But because Kurt is injured, it doesn't matter. Just tell the fans about Kurt's neck and drop the damn kayfabe bullshit.

The ribs make a whole lot more sense than the stupid ankle. For the love of Pete, Angle has one stinking trademark move that works the leg, and since he overuses it so stinking much, the anklelock has very little value. Everything else he does in the ring does damage to the back and rib area. In addition, he and the WWE have been building up the slam a bit recently with Angle using it more as a finish against Kendrick and Benoit.

I'm guessing that they brought out the Angle Slam just so that Lesnar can kick out of it (like every good face should be able too), and then Lesnar will finish off Angle.

Actually, if they played up the Brock hurt both Angle's leg and Angle adopted more offense, it could work.

The only thing is it's too little too late. Now that the title match has a foregone conclusion due to Kurt's injury, it doesn't matter how well this feud is played out. We all know what's going to happen. No matter how many times Kurt gets the upper hand going into WM or vice versa, it's not going to change what we, at least I, will do during the whole match, and that's cringe at every bump.

Since when did Kurt's injury make a difference? It was already a foregone conclusion.

Bingo. It'll probably be Angle that's gonna be busting out the boring restholds in this match, not Brock.
