From the Corel Centre (Ottawa, Ontario) Airing 3/21/2002 (but taped 3/19/02) Segment 1 Recap of the Undisputed Title controversy from Raw. Opening. Highlights of Monday’s Board of Directors meetings, including the announcement that Flair regained 50% control. Then cut to Linda McMahon “earlier today”, announcing that due to the controversy on Raw, the company will be split into separate “promotions” with Mr. McMahon controlling Raw and Chris Jericho’s version of the title and Ric Flair controlling SmackDown! and Triple H’s version of the title. 15-minute interview: the nWo Hall and Nash brag about The Rock joining them, with the footage being shown of Rock turning on Hogan. Nash challenges Hogan for the main event. The crowd is livid as The Rock finally tries to speak and spells it out simply. They cheered for Hogan? “The Rock can wrestle circles around Hulk Hogan. The Rock can act circles around Hulk Hogan. The Rock is about three millennia younger than Hulk Hogan. What in the blue #### were you people thinking?” Rocky tells the fans to stick it as we fade out. Segment 2 Backlash comes your way live on April 21 from the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. Already official: Scott Hall vs. Hulk Hogan. Kurt Angle is supposed to get an Undisputed WWF Title shot, but Michael Cole asks how can he get that with no undisputed champion? We’ll have to figure that out later though, as it’s match time. 10 minute time limit: Albert vs. Kidman Let's take you back to Monday where Kidman upset the Big Show. To the match, where Albert seemingly dominates Kidman with power moves. Finally, Albert whips Kidman into the corner and charges, but misses and hits the corner. Kidman with a springboard dropkick, followed by the shooting star press, and he gets the win at 7:08. ** Segment 3 Coach interviews The Hurricane and questions him about the use of the tights on Raw. Cut to see Spike Dudley hit Raven with a garbage can and cover for 2. Cole: "That #### 24/7 rule has ruined this European Title match!" Raven escapes through the crowd and the Euro match continues. Regal dominates for awhile, but DDP makes his comeback and connects with the Diamond Cutter. Regal instinctively rolls out of the ring and puts on the brass knuckles. DDP reaches out for him, and Regal gloms him with the brass knuckles. Regal puts the knux back in his tights, but before he can roll into the ring, Edge comes out and spears Regal...in full view of the referee. Winner by DQ in 10:32, William Regal (DDP retains the European Title). 3/4* Segment 4 WWF Cruiserweight Title with a 20 minute time limit: Funaki (w/TAKA Michinoku) vs. The Hurricane (c--w/Mighty Molly) TAKA's voiceover: "Hurricane Helms. You think you are a superhero. Well, tonight you'll need all your superpowers, because we will prove that good never really triumphs over...EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL!" Hand it to Funaki: "INDEED!" The match itself is a back and forth contest. Hurricane hits the Eye of the Hurricane, but Taka hops onto the apron. Hurricane gets off Funaki and goes after TAKA. Funaki wakes up and charges, but Hurricane moves and Funaki hits Taka. Hurricane with the rollup...feet on the ropes...he retains the title in 5:51. ** Segment 5 Kurt Angle is out for an interview. He throws a fit because he's supposed to wrestle for the undisputed title at Backlash and there is no undisputed champion. Out comes Triple H, who says since he was never pinned and didn't submit Monday night, he'll grant Angle the title match. "WHOOOOO!" Out comes Flair to say he's already booked a non-title match between Angle and Trips for tonight, and if Angle wins, he can challenge for whichever version of the title he chooses. Segment 6 WWF Intercontinental Title with a 20 minute time limit: Booker T vs. Rob Van Dam © Terrific (and long) match. Segment 7 Recap of the opening segment (done in under a minute). Coach is with Kevin Nash, who vows to destroy Hulkamania once and for all. JR is with Hulk Hogan, who says he's ended Kevin Nash's career once and will do it again if necessary. "Whatcha gonna do?" Segment 8 Non title match: Kurt Angle vs WWF SmackDown! Champion Triple H I will take suggestions on how to name each World Title. :-) Match ends suddenly, as Angle takes HHH down with a waistlock suplex and gets the pin with help of the ropes. Scott Keith calls it too short to mean anything. 3/4* Segment 9 Val Venis/The Godfather vs. The APA Val does his schtick but uses on of Godfather's escorts for it. Short match, as Faarooq catches The Godfather with a spinebuster for the pin at 1:40. DUD Segment 10 Coach is with Kurt Angle, who wants another shot at Triple H at Backlash, this time for his version of the title. Hogan takes down both of them, but turns around and gets met by a flying spinning leg lariat. Cole: "That's X-Pac! X-Pac's back, King!" King: "And I think he's joined the nWo!" Nash wakes up and Jack-Knifes Hogan as the ref wakes up. 1, 2, 3. -** X-Pac puts on the nWo shirt, and all four beat on Hogan as we fade out. Feedback is always appreciated. Guest JerryDrake Report post Posted March 21, 2002 No offense, but why would anyone book a -** match on their card?
Guest JHawk Report post Posted March 21, 2002 No offense, but why would anyone book a -** match on their card? Because I needed Nash vs. Hogan to build on the nWo vs. Hogan feud, but there's no way in #### an almost 50 Hogan can carry Nash much higher than that. Guest JerryDrake Report post Posted March 21, 2002 Atleast make it Scott Hall Vs. Hulk Hogan, where it actually has a chance to be mildly entertaining
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted March 21, 2002 There's no way I'd book X-Pac into my nWo. I'd have him job to Kidman and Helms for the rest of his career.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted March 21, 2002 Atleast make it Scott Hall Vs. Hulk Hogan, where it actually has a chance to be mildly entertaining Hall vs. Hogan is already scheduled for my Backlash. There's no way I'd book X-Pac into my nWo. I'd have him job to Kidman and Helms for the rest of his career. LOL Well, figure I've got him in with Hall, Nash, and Rock. That probably makes him the second best worker in the group, and some would probably argue he's the best worker in the group. Besides, I don't want X-Pac dragging down my cruiserweight division.
