Guest Downhome Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I wish I could sit here and think like the average Iraqi, I'd love to know what's in their minds right now. Duck and cover I wonder if they are taught over there to get under a desk, like we are here in the even t of a nuclear blast or other sort of attack. God knows a desk will protect you from anything!
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 God knows a desk will protect you from anything! It doesent protect fat or tall people. I'm not trying to be mean, but every time we had a drill, someone would always have trouble fitting under the desk.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Marvin, if he wanders(ed) inton a Tomahawk it wouldn't be considered an assasination. The Executive Order banning the killing of world leaders only distinguishes peacetime activity. Hussein, besides being the political leader of Iraq, is also the military leader. That makes him a perfectly legitimate target in case of conflict. Otherwise GWB wouldn't have gone for the one hit knockout Wednesday night. as for Caliban, I doubt we would be voluntarily hitting anything BUT legitimate targets. Our world image has already taken a beating because of the pissing contest with France in the UN. The last thing we'd need is TV images of little old ladies and children being pulled out of rubble all over Baghdad. Unless one of the missles/bombs GPS locators go on the fritz and they go wild, I would imagine that our targets are mostly bunkers, palaces, command and communication sites, and governmental buildings.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I see it as an assassination mainly because the specified purpose of the whole deal is to get Saddam out of power. The U.S. probably will not get lucky enough for him to be killed by a bomb. Its probably going to come down to a Allied Soldier killing him with a shot to the head. At that point, I hope its not a U.S. soldier.
Guest Downhome Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I wish Saddam would hold a press conference, and say "I'm sorry, really, please stop, I promise I'll be good from now on." That would be great.
Guest Powerplay Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I came back to class and walked by one of my friends in the office and asked him "What's happened?". He said "When did you last watch?" "Like 12." "Oh, they blew up about half of Baghdad." I get back, hear that everything went to hell around 1. Man, this won't last more than a week after this. I doubt anyone would want to stand up to firepower like that.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Some reporter just asked why Saddam hadn't authorized use of Chemical/Biological weapons.. I can tell you why..even if they have them to use, the use of them ultimately justifies everything that Bush has said about them having the weapons that they aren't supposed to have and so on. As long as they don't use them, Saddam probably feels that there a some countries who at least feel that the US was wrong in this. If any chemical or biological weapons are used, it will be a last ditch effort at a point probably where the troops are in Baghdad itself looking for him.
Guest Mad Dog Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 War time is a whole different set of rules to peace time. Saddam is the head of the military and considered a combatant.
Guest SP-1 Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Is it just me or does it look like there's little to no anti-aircraft fire going on there now?
Guest Bosstones Fan Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I doubt anyone would want to stand up to firepower like that. I know that I would be VERY tempted to give up if someone was bringing this kind of hellfire and brimstone at me.
Guest Powerplay Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Is it just me or does it look like there's little to no anti-aircraft fire going on there now? Would YOU want to make yourself a target after what just happened?
Guest SP-1 Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 That's my point, heh. Looks like the city defenders are just like, "Ah, fuck it. We're not gonna be able to do anything about this. Somebody go find the white flags . . . "
Guest Mad Dog Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Man where are the French to coach these guys?
Guest Powerplay Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I'm sorry, but this is like biblical level of destruction, IMO. Just destroying half the city at a set time with precision accuracy... that's God-like level of power almost.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Man where are the French to coach these guys? Where's Gillberg to coach these guys?
Guest Mad Dog Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 They already have the Gillberg part down. They need the French to teach them how to roll over and take it like the bitches they are.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 They already have the Gillberg part down. They need the French to teach them how to roll over and take it like the bitches they are. Just send in Hogan to tear up their flag, and finish Saddam with a leg drop.

Guest Mad Dog Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Now that's something I'd pay $40 for.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 These seem to be pre-planned flight paths and bombs programmed to land at certain destinations. If I were a civilian in Baghdad, I'd just stay away from government buildings and Saddam's palaces.
Guest JangoFett4Hire Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Two things: Conspiracy theory time. Imagine if nothing is found as far as WMD. Nothing. Obviously something would have to be planted, right? There's no way we can get away with this kind of assault if nothing is found. 2- and this could be big. CBS news is reporting an oil refinery in Iran was hit by an errant missile, killing 2. Unconfirmed, but all Iran needs is an excuse to join the fray.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I always always told that Red China would be a huge factor in the next war. Well it's here and hopefully they stay the fuck out, a Millitary that large will ruin it for all sides.

Unconfirmed, but all Iran needs is an excuse to join the fray. Nobody is going to want to take us on militarily right now. Everybodys already oogling all the bombs, and we've only dropped about 100 out of 3,000 in this air campaign. There's still plenty of gum available for anyone who wants to get involved. At most, they'll ask for money or something. At the least, they'll wonder if they're next and just shut up to be inconspicuous. EDIT: FNC ticker: "It's not immediately clear where missile that struck Iranian oil facility was launched from." It's not like the US forces have been randomly firing missiles. I'm betting Iraq.
Zorin Industries Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Unconfirmed, but all Iran needs is an excuse to join the fray. Why does everyone keep jumping on Iran, apart from the Mullahs the country is not dangerously extremist, believe me Iran does not want any part of this.
Guest Mad Dog Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I think all the other countries in the Middle East are shitting themselves right now and hoping that they don't piss the U.S. off anytime soon.
Guest HartFan86 Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 101st Airborne 3rd Birgade has just invaded Iraq.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 Check out the photos: http://news.yahoo.com/iraq
Guest My Eyebrow is on fire Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I hate to think what would happen if we fail to find the weapons (either from being hidden so well, or being totally moved to another country). Silly citizen. If nothing's there, we for sure will plant something. I bet tons of chemical weapons are already on carriers in undisclosed locations in the gulf just in case. Sort of like how the planes on 9/11 blew up in flames and incinerated every molecule in sight instantly, including the indestructable black boxes, yet someone's paper and plastic passport was "found" a few miles away from the crash, blown in the wind. It's the american way.
Guest JangoFett4Hire Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I believe they did find the black boxes on the 9/11 flights. I do agree with you on planting the weapons however.
Guest My Eyebrow is on fire Posted March 21, 2003 Report Posted March 21, 2003 I believe they did find the black boxes on the 9/11 flights. It's off topic but ABC News reported: "Although investigators look for an entire black box, sometimes the only parts of the device that survive are the recorder's crash-survivable memory units (CSMU). THE CSMU IS ALMOST INDESTRUCTABLE. It is housed within a stainless-steel shell that contains titanium or aluminum and a high-temperature insulation of dry silica material." “It is designed to withstand HEAT OF UP TO 2,000 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT FOR ONE HOUR, salt water for at least 30 days, immersion in a variety of liquids such as jet fuel and lubricants, AND AN IMPACT OF 3,400 G’s. By comparison, astronauts are typically exposed to up to six Gs during a shuttle takeoff.” [ABCNews - http://abcnews.go.com/sections/scitech/Tec...oxes010917.html] So the Black Box is designed to withstand an impact of 3,400 G's. So what about the Pennsylvania crash site? "THE VOICE RECORDER WAS SAID TO BE HEAVILY DAMAGED, and the manufacturer was being asked to help with further analysis. The plane that crashed in Pennsylvania was reported to have hit the ground in excess of 500 MILES PER HOUR." [ABCNews - http://more.abcnews.go.com/sections/us/dai...main010915.html] The plane hit the ground at 500 mph. Taking the weight of the plane, its speed of descent, the G's end up much, much lower than 3,400. Since each plane has two seperate Black Boxes which are designed to be indestructable in the event of a tragedy, that makes a total of EIGHT BLACK BOXES. If we are to believe that all the Black Boxes were damaged beyond use, then that is to say EIGHT BLACK BOXES in total were destroyed, while a measley paper passport survived. Thanks to my friend Shibli for referencing this. Anyway, just couldn't resist the challenge, sorry.
