HBK-Jericho question

Recommended Posts

Guest snuffbox

Would you accept Shawn going over Y2J at WM (cleanly or otherwise) if he in turn puts over Jericho totally clean at Backlash and/or Bad Blood in his "retirement" match?

I think I would...maybe.

Not at the time. If HBK wins @ Mania, most will be bitter. Then, if Y2J takes out HBK later on, it would be better...but Mania is the biggest show, so it wouldn't mean as much. At least not to me.

No.

Jericho deserves some Kliq blood on his hands after what happened last year.

No.

Wrestlemania is WRESTLEFUCKINGMANIA!!

Backlash?! Bad Blood?! Who the hell cares about that?

Screw that. Why should he wait to put him over whenever people have stopped caring...er, even less?

That would be like Flair beating Jericho at Summerslam, and then jobbing at Unforgiven. It losts its meaning when Jericho won a month later.

Chris Jericho must go over Shawn at WrestleMania, and cleanly. Let Shawn get his heat back at a future date, but Jericho must win at WrestleMania.

Jericho should make Shawn tap clean right in the middle of the ring. It would put Jericho over so good and make Shawn not look like one of those bitter old guys who won't put anyone over.

Plus Jericho deserves it.......

No......Shawn must not get his heat back at a later date. That's the whole fucking problem with the WWE is guys getting there heat back after a loss. It's the exact same as when they sit there and trade wins back and forth...I fucking hate that.

I think a lot of people here are expecting way too much out of this.

Even if Shawn does a clean job and taps out in the middle of the ring(which would make little sense) it won't mean much, if anything. They'll forget about it after like a week and Jericho's lame comedy promos won't sell him as a big threat.

Shawn isn't very over, and should retire ASAP. He's not exactly getting great pops, having great matches (since SumSlam anyway), and he has no long term future in WWE. Retire him and send him the fuck home, after making him tap out in the middle of the ring at WM. FINITO!! PERIOD!!

If Shawn taps out, in the middle of the ring, totally clean, I will fly to his house, and mow his lawn for a year.

The only way this could be good for Jericho is if he beats Shawn convincingly. Like, Shawn does all of his moves - puts his heart and soul and everything he has into the match- and Jericho, in the end, completely no-sells it.

Jericho has to win. HBK is the old. Y2J is the new. The point the WWE wants to make is "New is much better than Old" because it is New which will make them money.

But the build to the match and Jericho's character doesn't fit in with that. It would make NO sense if Jericho just starts no selling and destroys HBK.

WM could be huge for Jericho. Hes getting hot again. And HBK is still somewhat over and Im quite sure he'll be getting a huge pop in Seattle. I also see this match as being capable of breaking ****. a Jericho win would definitly put him over.

Why are you quoting me? I'm in total agreement with you.

Anyways Sakura.......it would make sense if Jericho made HBK tap.....first of all if he spends the whole match working on Shawn's injured back and then applies a hold THAT WORKS ON THE BACK then it would make perfect sense for Shawn to tap. Hell have the classic....."Shawn is put in the hold...it looks bleak......he fights for the ropes......Jericho drags him back to the middle.....it's been about 2 minutes....Shawn has no choice". That's perfect......it gets Jericho over great and makes sense with the story of the match, it's great psychology.

My whole enjoyment of the show is basically hinging on this match. If Jericho doesn't go over, then it will leave a bad taste in my mouth, as there's no reason why Shawn should go over at all.

I think it has the possiblity to break ****, but I'm not holding my breath.

Absolutely not. What would be gained from Jesus the Cripple going over at Mania? Absolutely nothing. HBK does not need the win in the slightest. Jericho does.

If HBK goes over at Mania I will be soooo upset- it will probably ruin my enjoyment of the whole show. I don't know how much more hate I can give to the man but we'll find out if he goes over

HBK retired in 1998. I could care less if he "retires" again. So if Jericho doesn't win at Mania, nothing else counts.

Do I thin it could be a very good match? Yeah, if Shawn's consistent with his selling and Jericho brings the total hatred with an underdog quality to it, yeah. Chances are, no.

The question for me is will it turn into nothing more than a brawl, e.g. the Summerslam 2002 unsanctioned streetright?

I'd begrudgingly accept, I'd much rather Jericho won at Mania but as long as Jericho is the man who puts Shawn out I don't think the WM match will mean too much

I'll take a guess at ***- ***1/2 on the rating

I don't really see the point of Micheals going over at WM. It's not like he's a regular competitor that needs to be built up for another feud. So I would much rather Jericho just go over at Wrestlemania and then be in the title hunt again.

Am I the only one shocked that so many of you think there's even the slightest chance in hell that Jericho will go over Michaels clean at WrestleMania? It's inconceivable. Even a cheap, tainted, ridiculously over-booked victory might be a stretch for Y2J at this show.

Im trying really hard to approach this match as a mark, and how Id mark out to see the superkick and the pop of 50,000+

But in any case, Y2J going over is the only outcome that makes sense. So it probably wont happen. ;)

The mark in me would like to see HBK go out on top in (presumably) his last Mania, but there's no reason not to put Chris over, especially with the feud being as one-sided as it's been.

There's no reason to put HBK over. He's already retired, he got a run with the title, and he's had his one good match. Get him and Hogan the F out of there after Mania.
