Guest JMA Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 I watched this movie (on DVD) for the first time in several years. Weeks ago I had watched the original on DVD for the first time in several years. When comparing the movies I noticed that had a great sense of continuity. The foreshadowing is great as well. You can also notice subtle things in the movie if you look. For example, if you look near Jason's shrine-room for his mother you'll see a decayed corpse with something sticking out of its head. This is Alice, Mrs. Voorhees' killer who herself was killed at the beginning of the movie. In part two we find out that Jason never died, but survived by eating animals and vegetation, and stealing what he needs. Full-grown now he's a child in a man's body. Seeking vengence for his mother's death (which he saw) he kills anyone who comes near his woods. All in all, it's a good sequel. This movie was, of course, before Jason was turned into a campy, undead hockey mask wearing zombie. What are your opinions on the film?
Guest Ravenbomb Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 good enough movie with a scene that should've been in a better movie of the same genre (the last scene in the Mrs. Voorhees shrine with the psychology and the sweater and whatnot) and Jason looking like the guy in Town that Dreaded Sundown
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 The movie sucked hard...but I love it just the same. Is that the one where the kids go to a bar and one of them stays behind and just kind of does nothing from there on...doesn't die, but doesn't play any more role in the movie. Better then the 3rd one though, it was made for a 3D screen, so durring the movie crap will pop out at the screen and it just looks foolish.

I disagree that it "sucked hard" and I see it as THE best sequel of Friday the 13th. You are, however, correct about one of the counselers staying at a bar and surviving by dumb luck. Jason was best portrayed in this movie, IMO. Kinda like a serial killer Boo Radley.
Guest NoCalMike Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 IMO, the Friday the 13th series was pretty damn good until after Part 4 "The Final Chapter" Even a few afterwards were alright, but up to part 4 I think they were going with the story that the teens just didn't kill Jason, and with part 6(Jason Lives) he was officially immortal.
Guest Johnson1620 Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 I loved the series, but my personal favorite after the first one was seven. I thought the story with the chick with the mental powers was a pretty refreshing change. Plus she is the only person that ever gave Jason a good fight.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 part 7 was good because it was neat to see Jason fight a psychic girl, but as far as the movies as a whole go the first 4 were the best, except for part 3 which was about as good as part 8
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 22, 2003 Report Posted March 22, 2003 I think I liked part 6 more then the others...everyone I know just shits all over it though. I think 6 and 4 are my favorites. I didn't like the girl in part 7, so I'm not too into that one.
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 Part 3 beats the hell out of part 8, IMO. I especially like how in part 3 nobody knows who the killer is (Jason's name is not spoken by any of the characters during the film), which makes it more interesting because they have no idea who they're up against.

I think that's what makes #3 more mindless and pointless. I love the movies, but I would't call any of them "interesting"
Guest NoCalMike Posted March 23, 2003 Report Posted March 23, 2003 Best part of Part 7(The new blood) is that Bernie Lowmax(Bernie from Weekend at Bernie's) stars in it as an asshole psychotherapist or something like that.
