Check out my new car!

Recommended Posts

Guest HBK16

I finally got a good job thats worth sticking by. Working for Bank of America. $10.25 an hour. YAY! I could finally invest money in something I really want. I sold my Civic to my brother who is getting his license. I gave him a break and sold it to him for about $1500. I made like $5000 worth of upgrades in that car. But my new car is a 1998 Mistsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS. I saw it on Autotrader.com. Heres a pic of it if you wanted to see it.

Im pretty happy with it. It drives great. There are a few adjustments I need to make with it but nothing too major. Im looking to keep this car mostly stock. Change maybe the pistons, breaks, and maybe add some nice 18s.

What do you guys think?

Busted link. Get some 18s, but get them as light as you can get 18s. Bo, that was crap selling that Civic for $1500 if you did as much as you said you did to it. It sounded worth $6000 easy.

I could have easily sold it for that much but its my brother and he works at a wmovie theatre. I have the money for the Eclipse, I sold it for the $1500 so I can buy the rims and the other stuff I wanted to do to it.

Hmm, an Eclipse? Cool. Now tell me it has a manual transmission, or I'll just have to call you a huge pussy for blaspheming by inhibiting a sports car with a repulsive automatic.

Hey, half of the best musclecars ever were automatics. Don't diss the effortless shifters.

Yeah Automatics are often highly underrated. If it's a good one they can actually be better performance wise. This is coming from legit magazines as well.

Alot of profession drag racers use automatics as well.

I think it has a lot to do with these "manly men" having to keep grabbing a PHALLUS to go faster. I feel that as long as the automatic has a first and second, in addition to the usual Drive or even Overdrive as well (like my Caprice), there's no problem really.

Automatics in sports cars = for sissies.

In a sports car, there's nothing like tearing thru the gearbox when you're racing. An automatic just doesn't give you that same feeling.

Keep in mind that automatics cost more to get, cost a LOT more to get fixed, and get worse gas mileage. Down with the "effortless shifters!" Boooo!

You tiptoed around the knob-grabbing. Some dudes grab the WHOLE SHAFT, not just the knob. I think there are some issues to address there. Also, in automatics, you don't wear out your transmission as fast, if you're the racing type anyway. And I don't know what automatics you've ridden in, but I'll be damned if Big Papa doesn't jerk every time it shifts up when I'm racing someone.

Because you seem to have the issue with it, not me. :P

I'm not really "the racing type," but I do drive faster then I probably should, and I'm not averse to an occasional stoplight challenge. The last car I owned with a manual had 56,000 miles on it when I traded it in, and the dealership's mechanic said the clutch was in beautiful condition, so I don't put a lot of wear and tear on it, anyway. Only assholes burn a clutch up before 70,000 miles, barring mechanical defect.

And I don't know what automatics you've ridden in, but I'll be damned if Big Papa doesn't jerk every time it shifts up when I'm racing someone.

Plenty. I've even had the displeasure of driving some of them. None of the manuals I've driven have ever gone all herky-jerky after an upshift unless I did something wrong, racing or not. If you mess up the timing, the car WILL jerk, whether it's a good clutch or a shitty one.

I just immensely prefer manuals, since I like to be in control of everything when I drive.

Yeah, the possibility of having two different names or some other guy posting stuff about his care deserves bad words in all capitals. Speaking of that other guy, thanks for the quote! Even though I'm not really fond of it anymore!

And that car is a lemon. A stinker of a lemon. I drive a monster truck to work, a space-cab around work (my job doesn't involve driving a space-cab) and a time machine back home. And that means I wake up every morning to the same exact day, so I get to do it all again and don't have to worry about anything that didn't already happen.

I do what I want because I'm tougher than everyone. ^_^
