How do you know when your car battery

I bought the car 2 years ago - and I have a system in it. I have no idea how old the battery was when I got the car either. It's covered in battery acid, but gave me absolutely no starting problems over this cold ass winter.

 

How do I know when it needs to be replaced and what kind of battery should i get to replace it?

First you need to clean the connections of all the acid. Then if it stills cranks the battery should be ok.

They have all these batteries that are specifically made for people with car audio systems, I don't exactly remember what they're called, maybe something like Yellow Lightning or somethin..I do know they're yellow (and blue for the higher grade model) and they sell them at most car audio dealers. But to my knowledge of car audio (and I do know quite a bit) that's the best battery you can get for your car...

When your car won't start is generally a good indicator of need for a new battery....

Another sign is perhaps if your dashboard lights/etc. appear to be a bit dim...

actually my old mustang had a system init, and the dashboard lights got dim because of the sheer amount of power that was in it, but it never needed a new battery the entire time I had it. and I had it for a loong time...

You can take to an Auto zone and they can tell you if you need a new one or not. You might need an alternator boost too.
