Guest Flyboy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Blah, I should have put "Academy Awards" in the thread topic, but oh well.
Guest the pinjockey Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I am looking forward to the completely pointless anti-war, anti-bush speeches. Is it too hard for one night to forget the problems, say thank you, and say you support the troops if you say anything at all? Not every event needs to turn into an anti-war protest.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 My reaction: I don't care. Then, don't come to the thread. Some people do.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I didn't know Cuba Gooding, Jr. was married to a white woman.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Is it too hard for one night to forget the problems, and say you support the troops if you say anything at all? Not every event needs to turn into an anti-war protest. Either it's "no comments on the war" or it's "make comments on either side of the issue". If you'd allow pro-war comments, then you have no room to bitch about the anti-war comments. Personally I don't want any comments about the war, but if an award winner made a pro-war comment then an award winner should also be able to make anti-war comments.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I didn't know Cuba Gooding, Jr. was married to a white woman. Hell he's basically white himself.
Guest the pinjockey Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I don't want any war comments either. I am not saying that you say you support the troops as in the cause just that you support them and hope they come home safe. But I would prefer nothing pro- or anti- wise.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I didn't know Cuba Gooding, Jr. was married to a white woman. Hell he's basically white himself. Not as white as The Coach.
Guest godthedog Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 i'm sure it'll be a hotbed of rich white people voicing their pissy little protest of the war. i saw the exact same thing on the independent spirit awards, where people like don cheadle & even my goddess julianne moore were straining to make references to it.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 So who are you guys rooting for? Not who do you think will win, but who you WANT to win. (argh here comes the LOTR will get screwed comments)

Guest Downhome Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I fucking love Steve Martin, this is a great escape from the war, at least for me.

Guest Flyboy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Everyone knew who was going to win that.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I wanted to hear what they had to say.
Guest Downhome Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 The first two have been "givens" in my opinon.
Guest Flyboy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Kahran, can you change the title of the thread for me?
Guest Nevermortal Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Jesus Christ, the academy are really nazis when it comes to speech time.
