Guest El Satanico Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Anyone here feel that Saving Private Ryan was robbed by Shakespeare in Love? I ask the question because I just thought of it, and I remember being irritated about it No...Saving Private Ryan wasn't that great. It was like Gladiator, good but not great and it didn't deserve an Oscar. I loved Gladiator. Oh don't get me wrong, I also liked Gladiator, but it really didn't deserve to win Best Picture.
Guest EternallyLazy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 What with the Jones replay played IMMEDIATLY after??
Guest El Satanico Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Recap of 3 minutes ago? Oscar Is Raw
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 I could see Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon beating Gladiator, even though I preferred the latter. But Erin Brockovich, Traffic, and Chocolat were all horrible.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Is the instant replay neccessary? I loved it when they had Peter Coyote dressed up like a 25th Century black jack dealer doing the bumpers backstage.
Guest EternallyLazy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Anyone here feel that Saving Private Ryan was robbed by Shakespeare in Love? I ask the question because I just thought of it, and I remember being irritated about it I didn't like any of the nominees that year. William Goldman wrote a brilliant essay on how bad Saving Private Ryan is from a screenplay and film construction point of view. I don't know about that guy, but if you look at www.rottentomatoes.com and type in saving private ryan, you'll see that 99.9% of the critics gave it glowing reviews with words like masterpiece, brilliant, and "instant classic" thrown in in almost every review
Guest El Satanico Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Oh yeah, that's right Gladiator won it in a very weak year. I was thinking there was some other movie that had a chance of winning(CTHD had little chance) which deserved to win.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 So the Two Towers gets a ten second scene, but they play the trailer for Gangs of New York? Wonder what that says?
Guest EternallyLazy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 So the Two Towers gets a ten second scene, but they play the trailer for Gangs of New York? Wonder what that says? That Gangs of New york is a better film??
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Science and tech awards. Time for nachos!
Guest Downhome Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Best Original Score --- Frida 5/8 Is it just me, or did that guy look cocky as the beast when he got up on stage?
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Keeping pace with downhome at 5/8 I thought Renee looked a little shocked when she read Frida for the win.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Notice no clip of Rob Lowe dancing with Snow White. God bless Dean Martin and Isaac Hayes though.

Guest Downhome Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Is this guy just so tall, or is the other one just so short?
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 8/11 I got my token Twin Towers awards right. Over an hour and a half in and no war speechs. Steve Martin is regulating.
Guest EternallyLazy Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 8/11 I got my token Twin Towers awards right. Over an hour and a half in and no war speechs. Steve Martin is regulating. I'm pleasently surprised... even if I were anti-war which I'm not, I still wouldn't want to hear them
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Ok, so I spoke too soon. GO KICK HIS ASS STEVE!
Guest Downhome Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 This show is not the place to preach anti-war damnit, fuck anyone who does so at this time. That is all.
Guest the pinjockey Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Who was it that went anti-war? I just flipped back to it.
Guest Downhome Posted March 24, 2003 Report Posted March 24, 2003 Wait, does this mean that f'n Eminem will be performing, on the ACADEMY AWARDS!? I never thought I'd see the day.
