The game is being developed by Winkysoft and is sort of a tactical fighter. You control 3 bots or cons and do battle against an enemy team. The game is supposedly boasting over 100 bots/cons from the Original 3 Seasons of G1 (Or Fight Super Lifeform: Transformer and 2010).

You may begin to drool gentlemen.

Damn it. Now I have to buy a PS2. And I only want to play as Prime, original Megatron, Soundwave and StarScream.

And there's a second game also coming out that's a Tie-In to Transformers:Armada

Welcome to Heaven my friend ^_^

Now if only they could get some competent animators for the Armada TV show.

Footage looks awesome. Any word on if voices will be in the game, or if it will be text?

I must say I mark heavily for the old-school designs in CG, especially Megatron and Optimus Prime charging each other with guns blazing. I'm actually turned off a bit by Armada because it's a bit overly mecha for my liking (I know, strange to here that from the anime freak)

I'm going to be a bit cynical until I see the game in action. Cartoon and Toy tie-in games have a track record of being extremely sub-par for the most part.

1) I want a perfect TF game just as much as the next guy, know that first of all.

2) Wasn't all of this simply cutscene footage rather than gameplay though?

3) Is this an action/adventure or just a one on one fighting game?

4) Remember, gameplay can make or break a game, I hope they can make this work!

UPDATE: A story was featured in Dori-Mag (Dream Magazine) regarding the upcoming G-1 Transformers video game being developed by Winkysoft. Key points from the article are:

- It will be an action game with up to 100 Transformers in it, in "full polygon"

Here's some more news and In Game Screen Caps:

DSC00011.JPG

DSC00015.JPG

- It will be based on the Generation One saga through 2010

- The game may keep the original English voices and/or transformation sequence

- You can command a squad of yourself and two other Transformers. You can kick, punch, or throw your opponents and command your two partners for assistance.

- The screen shots feature a health gauge and an "Energon Points" gauge that may possibly be used to allow special attacks. There is a radar which will show the location of your opponents.

- The game is over 70% complete and Takara promises this will be a game that Transfans will enjoy.

Will Soundwave and Blaster be able to eject Rumble, Ravage, Frenzy, Laserbeak, et. al.? That would be so damn cool if they would do that, maybe as some sort of special. I'm marking our just thinking about it.

Soundwave was always my favorite. He was so damn cool back in the day. Even now.

I'd be happy even if they just did this Marvel vs. Capcom style, with a non-controllable "helper" taking a few shots. Especially Rumble, badass among badasses.

The 80's are over people, move on.

So they are gone. Moot point. We still love Transformers. Don't like it, then too bad. Some of us still do.

That being said, this game is kinda starting to sound like an RPG. Sort of.

HOLY MOTHER OF FUCKING GOD...how come I never heard of this before!?!??

Seriously, a Transformers G1 game has been my greatest dream since I was like 8 (and that horrid NES game doesn't count). I can't believe I never heard of this. How could my geek sense have failed me?? I follow everything geek with a passion, no clue how I missed this one.

BTW, Starscream and Rodimus own ALL...and Optimus Prime is a $#)%@*# piece of trash. To me he's the Hulk Hogan of Transformers...overpushed garbage. Rodimus=Macho Man, and Starscream=god.

Oh. You mean Jericho.

Starscream=God, which in turn means, Starscream=Jericho.

Excuse me? Rodimus fucking sucked as a leader. I don't recall a single episode after the moive where Rodimus actually did anything memorable. He was great as Hot Rod and showed some promise in the movie, but as Rodimus he was laaaaame.

And Optimus Prime overpushed? Again did you see the movie? The scene which shows Optimus wasting Decepticons leading to the fight with Megatron (and the fight itself) was just awesome. For crying out loud he was a freaking truck and yet he was cool.

...

I like Optimus alot ok? :)

Starscream=God, which in turn means, Starscream=Jericho.

Actually, Jericho IS the best analogy for Starscream. Though HHH=Megatron doesn't work quite as well, even though Megatron HHHeld Starscream down...mainly because Megatron was always shown to be 2nd rate compared to Optimus. HHH would never stand for that.

Exactly...no one else got to whoop ass like Optimus. I agree that that scene was simply coolness itself. However, you don't see Cliffjumper or Jazz taking out Decepticon jobbers like that, do you? Hell, not even that hoss Grimlock (another favorite of mine) was ever booked so dominantly.

Optimus was always booked so that he'd never lose his heat. Even after his death all everyone talks about is "Optimus this, Optimus that." Rodimus was always forced by the Powers that Be to live in the shadow of Optimus. And just like the WWE, when their half-hearted effort to "build new stars" failed because of shoddy writing, they copped out and brought Optimus back (twice) in lame plot twists.

Just a thought...TF+Wrestling smarkdom = TF scenario for EWR! :headbang:

Bots as faces, cons as heels, and have the different TF franchises as different feds...with G1 being the daddy, naturally.

Oh, and all the jobbers can be Go-Bots.

OK on a related (kinda) topic, part 2 of season 2 comes out (last time I saw) on DVD April 20. Mark your calendars!

Now then, this is an interesting subject. Relating wrestlers to Transformers. We've got:

Optimus Prime = Hulk Hogan

Starscream = Jericho

Megatron = HHH (for lack of a better comparison)

Any other ideas? Maybe

Blaster = Booker T (racial stereotypes aside, they both came on to the scene relatively late and got pushes that ended up going nowhere)

Rock = Punch/Counterpunch (can play heel or face equally well. Place on the card doesn't match though)

Undertaker = Grimlock (doesn't move very well, doesn't sell at all, but kicks everyone's ass all over the place)

Ric Flair = Kup or Ironhide (both old guys that just tried to do what they can to help out)

Jeff Hardy = Hmm...kind of a mix of Blurr and Arcee (hitting below the belt RULES!)

For cliques you can have:

NWO = Constructicons/Devastator (the original, steamrolled everything, then started jobbing to everyone)

any Lucha or Puro stable ever given any play in America = Stunticons and Arielbots (brought in but never really given much attention)

Finally, there is:

Vince McMahon = Unicron (eats everything in the universe without seeing that it would lead to his own destruction. Plus, knows what his vulnerabilities are but can't do shit about them).

Any other ideas? Man I can't believe I actually used brain cells to come up with this.

The Flair/Kup and Constructicons/Devastator comps are great.

Of course you've also got the obvious Spike/Spike...both are puny and always have to be rescued by the autobots/Dudleyz.

Perhaps Springer = RVD? They're both kinda care-free, and RVD seems to wear green a lot.

Perceptor = Lanny Poffo...Perceptor was more of a manager than a worker, kinda like the Genius.

X-Pac = Wheelie, just based on the "small and annoying" factor.

Guest Neil-o-Mac
Posted

Some other TF/wrestling connections...

Ultra Magnus = Lex Luger...got a face push after the franchise player (Prime) departed that flopped horribly. I wonder if that makes Rodimus = Diesel?

Shockwave = Benoit. Cold, calculating and a proper badass.

Soundwave = Angle, ergo Rumble/Frenzy = Haas/Benjamin. Although Angle has Soundwave beat in the charisma stakes.

I wouldn't say Rock = Punch/Counterpunch. That's the Big Show, if anything. Rock would maybe be Jazz.

If Jericho = Starscream, does that mean that Christian = Ramjet/Thundercracker et al?

Insecticons = Kaientai.

Hmm...I think that should cover it for now.

Oh, and to stay on topic, the game looks fantastic.
