When Harry Met Lloyd: Dumb and Dumberer...

I'm sure most of you know everything about this so far, but I'll give you some quick information on it. This is, obviously, the prequel to Dumb and Dumber staring Jim Carey and Jeff Daniels. From IMDB, "Set in 1986 when best friends Harry (Olsen) and Lloyd (Richardson) were teenagers, this is the madcap comic tale of their attempt to get out of the "special needs" department and into regular high school life." Here is the cast list...

Eric Christian Olsen .... Lloyd Christmas

Derek Richardson .... Harry Dunne

Luis Guzmán .... School Janitor

Eugene Levy (I) .... Principal Collins

Rachel Nichols .... Jessica

Mimi Rogers .... Harry's Mom

Greg Behrendt .... Father

Josh Braaten .... Toby

Kevin Centazzo .... Jessica's Boyfriend

Julia Duffy .... Jessica's Mom

Colin Ford .... Lloyd (At Age 5)

Elden Henson .... Turk

Michelle Krusiec .... Cindy

Shia LaBeouf .... Louis

Cheri Oteri .... Ms. Heller

Brian Posehn

Teal Redmann .... Terri

William Lee Scott .... Carl

Lin Shaye .... Margie

Hillari Fowlkes .... Parade Attendant (uncredited)

Will Fowlkes .... Parade Attendant (uncredited)

...that was also from IMDB, if you couldn't tell. This film is being directed by Troy Miller who, from what I can tell, has never really done anything of note. Most of his work has been for TV, so I'm left wondering why this guy is doing this film. Here is the picture of Harry and Lloyd...

...it looks like them, at the younger age, to me so maybe there is hope for this. Hell, it has Eugene Levy in it, lol. I don't know, this one will either be hit or miss, pure shit or, well, I just hope it isn't pure shit.

Sincerely,

...Downhome...

Shia LaBeouf .... Louis

Don't tell me he's playing the same character he does on Even Stevens in this movie? Or were they just using the same name?

I assume it's just the same name.

Here is a quick poll...

...what film do you FIRST remember seeing Eugene Levy in personally?

"Armed and Dangerous," with John Candy. Very underrated comedy.

Didn't see him again until American Pie.

I remember Eugene Levy primarly from SCTV. The first movie I probably really noticed him in was Splash.

On a side note, I marked out when Joe Flaherty popped up at the end of Back to the Future II.

The first time I remember seeing Eugene was in National Lampoon's Summer Vacation playing the part of the used car salesman. That character just really stuck in my mind, even though it was a very small role.

Instead of a prequel, why not do a SEQUEL so you can use Carrey and Daniels?

Im not even going to rent it, and I plan to change the channel every time I see a commercial for it. I dont even want to know this piece of shit exists outside of the fact that I've read this thread and seen the trailer before LOTR.

I do believe that Jim Carey has said, since he got power in Hollywood, that he would never do sequels.

What was that movie that Eugene Levy did with Robin Williams about a island resort? It also featured several stars from the SCTV show.

Cheri Oteri .... Ms. Heller, will she be the insane drug addicted character from SNL?

Now if they could've got Carrey and Daniels to come back...Don't you think that they would've used them.

Well ok I'm sure that Daniels would've done it, but without Carrey that doesn't matter.

Well it could be awful or really good. It all depends on the performance of the two unknown leads. The two leads are unknown right?

Besides Eugene Levy is the Ric Flair of comedies...Dumb and Dumberer could be another broom.

Club Paradise?

Eric Christian Olsen, who's playing Carrey's role, has appeared in Pearl Harbor, Not Another Teen Movie & The Hot Chick.

This is Derek Richardson's film debut, though.

Yes, Club Paradise was the Eugene Levy and Robin Williams movie. I remember HBO showing it all the time when I was a kid. It's pretty bad despite having a lot of talented guys in it and the Kinks' Apeman for a theme song.

I'm thinking Carrey won't do sequels to his films. He wasn't in the first two Batman movies so it was new to him. Although he did make Ace Ventura II right when he became a hot property, so Carry like any actor will probably do anything if the money is right or his stock drops low enough.

The key part of that is "since he got power in hollywood".

He didn't have the power to say what he would and wouldn't do when he did Ace Ventura II.
