WWE expanding International

Guest Trivia247

WWE GROWING INTERNATIONALLY. WWE announced today they have secured new television deals in Japan & Germany.

Andrew Whitaker, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of International Television for WWE announced the historic deals earlier todady. For the first time in the history of WWE they have territorial deals in Germany & Japan.

WWE sold Smackdown to Tele5 in Germany (1 hour version for 52 weeks). Tele5 is part of the Telemunchen Family and reaches 29 million viewers in Germany. WWE also renewed their deal with Premiere to carry RAW, Heat, Bottom Line, Velocity and Confidential and has for the first time launched a PPV platform through Premiere to show all 12 PPV events annually on German television.

(Editor's Note: This is good for WWE because now if they choose to tour Germany they will have a better chance of drawing better attendance records.)

WWE sold Smackdown to Fuji Tv in Japan (1 hour version for 52 weeks). WWE also just renewed a 10 hour per week deal with Fuji Tv for the next three years. RAW, Heat, Smackdown, Velocity, Confidential and other WWE programs will be aired in Japan. WWE also launched a PPV platform in the Japanese market with Sky Perfect Tv to air all 12 of the PPV events on Japanese television annually.

(Editor's Note: Again this is great news for WWE because they plan on making Japan a regular stop on their international tours and now they have a direct outlet to draw in Japanese fans to the product.)

Pity that they no longer have a title that would represent the continent of Europe that they will now be promoting there. tisk tisk such short sighted Mass screwing of titles just to Make KKK feel better about himself.

Be nice if they could expand their Australian business as opposed to restricting it. Especially seeing as they see us as a large viewing base and plan to tour here often

Well, I just hope they announce an equal deal for Mexico.

We only got Raw.

There is a rumour about Smack down, but its not confirmmed.

Look on the bright side. Once we get house show reports when they tour Germany and Japan, we'll find out how to say "Shave Your Back" in two more languages.

Why do TV shows always have to be shot in English-speaking countries? I think it would be pretty cool to see a Raw from another country (granted, it would have to be either taped or take place earlier/later in the day from where they shoot it from). Or a Smackdown from another country would be interesting--they tape it anyway.

They did that with Nitro in Australia. It was for 2-3 weeks too I believe.

Hopefully Vince will now realise the importance of the international market in particularly Australia, and see that increasing the asking price for Smackdown by 400% despite the ratings plummeting is just a little unreasonable.

Hear hear. We deserve more than a yearly glorified house show.

What's wrong with the world seeing A-train?

The Fat Bastard can't wrestle, and he looks like he smells.

He can't wrestle? You obviously haven't seen many indy wrestlers. Those bastards are likely to fuck up a collar and elbow tie-up.

If that's the defense for Albert being a poor wrestler, it's not much of a comparison. When you're using the pits to justify how horrible someone is...

No, my point was that Albert is not a bad wrestler. He wouldn't be employed with the WWE if he were. There are indy wrestlers who are horrible. This person just doesn't know bad talent when he sees it.

That still doesent take away from the fact that him and the Big Show remind me of a shtty version of the Natural Disasters.

I think it would be cooler if they took RAW and Smackdown shows and aired them from other places outside of the US and Canada. But I doubt they'll be doing that..

Japan doesn't get any WWF TV at all? How do they sell out the shows then?

Apologies if my answer was in the topic post, but I opted out of that on grounds it was likely to be hellishly boring.

As it usually is with rumors.

You'd get Smackdown with satellite or something, though, right?

That's your belief.  One cannot argue opinions.

Then we'd have no board.
