Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 5, 2003 hey, at least you guys aren't shelling out almost 18 million dollars in taxes, unlike all the other canadian teams.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Where do you get this from?
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 5, 2003 c'mon Leafs pay about 4.5 million dollars in taxes (Raptors pay half as well, and the Toronto Rock pay some as well, since they share the same building). Toronto also doesn't pay loan interest for the money invested into the ACC, while other arena's like the Corel Centre, and the Bell Centre Montreal is still paying interest (plus 72 olympics really fucked them aswell). Also the Leafs is partly owned by the governemnt, and the Ontario Teachers Assosiciation, which in numbers helps cut down their tax break. Most of the other Canadian teams pay a lot, because of debt, idiotic owners, and the weak weak Canadian Dollar, doesn't help small market teams. Toronto has a huge fan base, but half of the seats are corporate executives, and main sponsers help the Toronto franchise help pay for the taxes, and therefore Toronto can afford a large salary based team, and can compete with other high salary based teams like NYR, Colorado, Detroit... Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted April 5, 2003 I will say this- Judging by the results of the last three playoffs- the Sens are probably better at golf then Toronto. But not that much better, considering the Leafs always go down the series immediately after they beat Ottawa. It's sad, really.
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted April 5, 2003 unlike the leafs we win cups. That was like 10 years ago dude. Still...ten Cups since the Leafs even won one...

But not that much better, considering the Leafs always go down the series immediately after they beat Ottawa. It's sad, really. How is that sad and anything to brag about for an Ottawa fan? For the past three years you've lost to Toronto in the playoffs. That's gotta be humiliating. You can play the whole 'well you always lose in the next round' but the fact remains- Three years in a row Ottawa goes down when they face Toronto.
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted April 5, 2003 I wasn't bragging or anything. I was just pointing out how ridiculous your first statement sounds.
