Guest papacita Report post Posted March 26, 2003 For any of you that missed me yesterday (), I was in the hospital pretty much all day. I'd been experiencing chest pains on and off since last Wed, and after coughing up a little blood around 1 AM Tuesday, I decided to go into emergency and get checked out. It was quite an experience. First, I got to share the waiting room with two crazy guys...this one dude was mumbling "yo quiero taco bell" and shit like that in his sleep, and the other guy was just talking to himself, cursing and everything. Then, I saw the doctor, who told me that he was just gonna give me a chest X-Ray, see what's wrong and get me outta there ASAP. I waited about 2 hours or so for that, then was told that they needed to run some more tests on me to make sure that my aorta wasn't torn. While the doctors debated on whether I should take an MRI or a CAT scan, the nurses took turns trying to stick an IV in my arm . The first fool sticks me with two needles (simultaneously), and kept missing my vein. When he finally got it...I dunno what the hell he was doing, but when he pulled the needle out of my arm, my blood just shot across the room, scaring the shit outta me. My mom (who went with me) pretty much flips on him while a female nurse tries to get the IV into my other arm while keeping me from passing out. Finally, they get the IV in, and I wait another 3 hours form my MRI. Thankfully, my aorta was straight, but it turns out that they found a small mass in my stomach right next to the gall bladder (I'd known about it for about a year, so it was no shock) that they wanted to run some tests on. After MORE WAITING, they ran an ultrasound on me (which, considering how skinny I am, hurt like hell). The results of that one were inconclusive, so they ran another, more uncomfortable one. Finally, waited about an hour for the results...doctors said that they couldn't find anything that I should be particularly concerned about (except that my blood pressure is a little high), then kicked me outta there around 6 or 7 last evening. I'm glad everything turned out ok, but after yesterday, I never wanna SEE another hospital again.
