Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted March 27, 2003 My opinion of you just rose 100000%. Whilst I've heard he does too many pixies covers (not that gouge away isn't INCREDIBLE live) and not enough solo stuff in his recent shows, when I saw him around the release of 'Dog in the Sand' it was the best gig I have ever been to. Considering I really only know him through the Pixies, I wouldn't complain. Plu, I couldn't consider him playing Pixies songs as being covers...since you know, he wrote them all. Guest Incandenza Report post Posted March 29, 2003 Yeah, but Stevie Wonder's post-70s work is crappy.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted March 29, 2003 Yeah, but Stevie Wonder's post-70s work is crappy. hey! the theme from the outsiders was a bit maudlin BUT an enjoyable tune nonetheless. just saying.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted April 1, 2003 He did Headache when I saw him. That really surprised me. I love all the solo stuff really, 'Cult of Ray' was average but there is great stuff on all the others. I'm not complaining about the pixies covers btw, but I've always thought people unfairly dismissed his solo work because they instantly compared it to the classic shit of the pixies, whereas it's really quite good on it's own. It's a different style of music. Whatever he plays it'll kick ass.
