Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 As many others I'm sure, growing up an American male around age 12-14 I wanted to be in a rock band so bad. Of course I was much better at thinking of lame band/album names and writing c-grade songs that were rip-offs of rip-offs. I think my worst offense was being a 13 year old middle-class white male with a good family trying to be a Metallica/Megadeth/Pantera rage-fueled anti-social punk, with introspective song titles like "Slayed in America", "No Man's Land", "Last Rites" and "The Exocutioner's Song" (A horrible rip-off of "Ride the Lightning", believe me it was bad.) Naturally I never actually tried to learn how to play guitar or develop any kind of a craft. My brother did, forming his own punk band later called Minimal Effort, recording a demo disc and everything. Oh I had tons of booklets ripping off pop-metal, ballads, grunge, punk. I wish I still had them. I will leave you with this little gem I wrote when I was 12 (ripping off Skid Row of all things): Pain, pain, pain It's insane Got to live my life over again I can't stand to keep on going Cause all I seem to feel is pain
Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Incedently, if anyone wants to hear my brother's work, apparently go to MP3.com and look under Minimal Effort (Wayne, PA) and you'll find it.
Guest Nevermortal Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Howling at the Moon. A 10 (yes 10) piece medieval metal/hair band. There were talks, some songs (pretty bad) were written, and that was the end of it.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Best band names I've come up with: Not Winger (Who's playing tonight? Not Winger.) Third Shift Nanny Jimmy V's Mojo Ghost Psychotropic Batman Badass Weed
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Truth be told, before the Insane Clown Posse existed, I had an idea to start an insane clown group. I just planned to call it the Insane Klowns, and it would have been closer to Slipknot in appearance (this was also before Slipknot, naturally). But of course, that idea is taken now.
Guest Dace59 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Mine where/are Dead Roar and Roaring Corpses. First would be a Deathgrind band, the second a Blackend Noisegrind band.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Bands I planned on forming, 8th grade to 10th grade: Freakshow (8th grade) - a Marilyn Manson-style band Omega's Army (8th grade) - a rapcore band Drezweiser (8th grade) - self-promoting (one of my nicknames is Drezzy) cock-rock band Nightmare (9th grade) - Nu-Metal band Alhazred (10th grade) - HP Lovecraft-inspired metal Zhorn (10th grade) - War-themed thrash metal The Wesux (10th grade) - Green Jelly with less talent (we actually played a show, and jammed twice) My current pet project would probably be titled Dybbuk, and will/would be a punk/metal hybrid band with songs about death, war, horror movies, stupid things people do when they're depressed (particularly cutting), and politics. I've actually come into my own as a lyricist, especially when I know what the fuck I want to write about.
Guest Dmann2000 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 I actually came up with a nice album title, MotherFatherSisterBrother
Guest Steviekick Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 My attempt at rockstardom was a band called Vaginal Blood Fart. The goal was to be a brutal death metal/noise jam band. Total craziness was what went on when we practiced. However, we ended our quest for greatness when we found out that there was already a band called that in Florida. That caused VBF to break up and never see the light of day again.
Guest kingkamala Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 Snake: A weird band that I thought would sound like a hybrid between Queen, Alice Cooper and Led Zepplin. Died after I figured that their were probably twenty other Snake or The Snakes named bands. The Termites: Ugghhhhhh........I thought of the idea of it being like Vanilla Ice except for with two guys instead of one.....next subject. ?: A Blink 182/Green Day typed pop-punk band. All the members names would be punctuation marks or symbols like the lead singer was ?. Anyway it kind of died off when I stopped liking that type of music.
Guest razazteca Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 Try to combine 80's New Wave with Hair Band, the name would of course be NOT GHEY.

'Vaginal Bloodphart' in Florida's vocalist is Bloodhound Gang's bass player 'Evil Jared'. Also the drummer 'Spanky G' also used to be the drummer for the Bloodhound Gang. *is a Bloodhound Gang mark*
Guest Choken One Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 I had a group for two weeks called Sanctum of the Dead It was a Deep, Intropective mix of Classic Rock Ballads bled with free-style elements of rap We only finished Three songs "Shiftless Souls" "Utopia" and the GREATEST SONG THE WORLD NEVER HEARD "Barney the Dinosaur is a Purple Phony"... I'll call up on my friends who kept the songs hidden from it's potential GREATNESS and see if I can at least get the lyrics...
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 I am currently putting a band together, which I want to name "10 Ways to Kill Johnny" Yeah, rolls off the tounge, doesn't it?
Guest T®ITEC Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 My friends have been messing with the idea of a band since they freakin' met. The current name is, naturally, "Three Minute Warning". They don't even like Rosie & Jamal, but will gladly rip off the name. They've deemed me their agent/part-time singer. So far, they (we, I guess) have a two guitarists and a.. piano player? Yup. Our piano player can also play a synthetiser, so go us.
Guest goodhelmet Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 heh, high school band names. ... public slut exterminator homer's plan
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 "Inebriated". Think RATM, ripped off poorly, with lyrics about boobs and pot. "Regurgitated Abortions" 2 person gore/industrial project. Never got off the ground. Pretty bad, but not terrible.
