Best Soundtracks?

Recommended Posts

Guest Lord of The Curry

This isn't nescessarily the best soundtrack, just the one that best fits the action you are seeing on screen. I'm probably biased because I just finished watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon but god-fuckin-damn does that soundtrack ever own. The entire world should be aware of the beauty that is "The Eternal Vow" by Yo-Yo Ma.

Other soundtracks that fit the movie well:

- Last of the Mohicans

- Forrest Gump

- Heat

- Personal Velocity (check this one out, hidden gem).

The Batman and Twin Peaks soundtracks are the only two soundtracks I ever listen to. But they're mostly just score so I guess there is a difference between the score and the trendy pop music soundtracks of today.

Can't forget Transformers. What an awesome tape that is. It's great to have the ability to hear You Got The Touch at any minute.

I still listen to my Rocky 4 Soundtrack at least once a week:

"Eye of the Tiger"

By Survivor

"Burning Heart"

By Survivor

"Living In America"

By James Brown

"No Easy Way Out"

By Robert Tepper

"Hearts On Fire"

By John Cafferty

"War"

By Vince DiCola

"Training Montage"

By Vince DiCola

South Park: The Movie Soundtrack. Pretty much every track is justice, and possibly rule.

Howard Stern's Private Parts soundtrack fucking rules, especially for the Type O Negative/Ozzy song.

Lost Highway is another hidden gem. Great stuff on that one.

Oddly enough, TF: the movie is also scored by Vince DiCola

My personal favourite scores are Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Star Wars and Superman.

Favourite OSTs are The Crow, Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump.

Braveheart, Twin Peaks (the TV show, not the movie soundtrack which is a lot darker), Good Will Hunting, and the Wedding Singer. Star Wars Ep. 2, Gangs of New York, and The Thomas Crown Affair (99 version) aren't bad either albeit they do have less cool songs than the others.

my all-time favorite is 'lost highway'. sadly, the best song in the movie ('song to the siren') isn't on it...but i burned my own copy of it with 'song to the siren' on it, so it's okay.

'2001' isn't very exciting to listen to by itself, but it fits the movie perfectly. i consider that the gold standard of movie soundtracks.

'eyes wide shut' deserves mention just for the theme from the orgy & the shostakovich waltz. the rest is so-so, but oh well.

the music from 'touch of evil' rules it hardcore. it's shallow, simple & grimy, fits the overall mood of the movie great.

i thought peter gabriel did a damn good score for 'the last temptation of christ'.

the zither from 'the third man' is great in an odd, quirky way.

The Third Man zither is bad as all hell.

I love the O Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Then again if it wasn't for bluegrass, I'd have no grass at all.

Crap, how could I forget The Wedding Singer? Steve Buscemi singing Spandau Ballet is GOLD.

Return Of The Living Dead (45 Grave and The Cramps, 'nuff said), The Crow, and Ghosts Of Mars (Anthrax and John Carpenter wrote most of the songs) are my top 3.

My favorite original scores would be the themes from Terminator 2 (I prefer the T2 theme over the original theme), The Guyver, Phantasm, and The Exorcist.

Lemme add another...

Boogie Nights. Awesome all the way through. Plus it made "Jessie's Girl" seem cool.

The movie makes a lot of faggy 70's & 80's songs awesome.

Aaahh...It's time to party. What a fantastic song. I wish I could find that ROTLD soundtrack. I have the 45 Graves full legnth but not the soundtrack. Dinah Cancer. What a great name for a great singer. haha

The Boogie Nights one is great too. I've seen that movie so many damn times that when I listen to the soundtrack I know exactly which scene the song plays in. So I can basically watch the movie by listening to the soundtrack. haha

I can never hear "Sister Christian" without thinking of that film, or "Best of My Love"

Oh and "A Hard Day's Night". That is all.

I'm partial to the soundtrack from The Virgin Suicides, when I want something relaxing to listen to.

The soundtracks I listen to the most are Blade Runner, Heathers & The Hitcher. I also like the music from The Keep and Return to Oz, although the original CD's are expensive, so I just made my own from MP3's.
