Guest Nanks Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Somewhat of a Goldberg related thought, but how many superstars have made their WWE debut appearance at Wrestlemania in the past?? Who have they been?? EDIT: Right, well I've found a few here now. Luger had an interview at Mania VIII, J.R. debuted at Mania IX(!!), Austin & HHH debuted at WM XII, The point I was trying to make was that it would be too big of an honour to give to Goldberg to make him the first, or almost the first, superstar to make their debut appearance at Wrestlemania. I guess not then...
Guest Andy Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Austin made his WWF debut against Matt Hardy on Monday Night Raw, 15-Jan-96. Triple H was there for nearly a year before WrestleMania 12 - he was certainly at SummerSlam '95, where he beat Bob Holly. I think Nathan Jones will be the first though, since he hasn't wrestled on TV for WWE yet. Cheers - A.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Triple H came into the WWF in April 95. Austin made his debut in December 95. Nicole Bass made her WWF debut at WrestleMania XV (just another reason why that's the only Mania I've never seen). MAYBE Virgil at WrestleMania VII. I don't think I've come across any matches involving Virgil after he turned face at the 91 Rumble and before Mania - and his wrestling matches prior to then were so few and far between that Mania could be considered to be his debut as a full time in-ring talent. LOD 2000 made their debut at WrestleMania XIV (if you want to get technical). Paul Elloring made his debut at WrestleMania VIII. The Gobbledygooker made his in-ring debut at WrestleMania X-7. Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Marc Mero first showed up at WM12, but he didn't have a match. It seems to me that Survivor Series is the place to debut. Undertaker, Rock, and Angle all made theirs at SS.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Virgil wrestled Savage as a heel post-Wrestlemania IV. Its on an old video,I think "High Flyers" Sable made her ringside and wrestling debut at XII and XIV respectively.
Guest papacita Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Wasn't Wrestlemania 8 Tatanka's PPV debut (didn't see Rumble 92 so I'm not sure).
Guest Mole Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Marc Mero first showed up at WM12, but he didn't have a match. It seems to me that Survivor Series is the place to debut. Undertaker, Rock, and Angle all made theirs at SS. Angle was on Raw before he was at SS. I don't know when, but I remember him being at Raw, with terrible mic skills. I think I was at that Raw, but I'm not sure.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Well his first match was at SurS
Guest Jack Tunney Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Well, the Ultimate Warrior made his return at WMXII so that could kind of count.
Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted March 28, 2003 Yes angle beat up Tiger Ali Singh on an episode of Heat back in March of 1999. He wouldn't blow his nose with the american flag. It is strange seeing angle with a full head of hair.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted March 28, 2003 I don't recall Angle ever having terrible mic skills though. But I could be wrong.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted March 28, 2003 That was angle before he started to hone his Mic Skills...
Guest Downhome Report post Posted March 28, 2003 I don't think anyone should debut at Wrestlemania, ever. Wrestlemania should be the end of the past year, or so to speak. The next night on RAW, THAT is where we should have the true begining for the next year or so. Wrestlemania should be the end of angles, not the begining of them. I'm tired of it being used ONLY to promote the next PPV in many ways, I want some closure this year damnit. Besides, WM is so huge it doesn't NEED anyone to debut on it. The next night on RAW would be perfect however.

The next night on RAW would be perfect however. Exactly. If memory serves me Lesnar debuted on Raw the night after 'Mania last year. Would it have added to the show or to the career of Brock Lesnar to debut at Wrestlemania X-8? I personally feel that it would have hurt him in a subtle way, almost like saying at a smaller show he wouldn't be able to cut it, that he'd need the 'glamor' of Wrestlemania to make him shine brighter. On a totally unrelated note.... 100 posts in just under 1 year!!!
Guest Nanks Report post Posted March 29, 2003 I'm not talking about people making in-ring debuts or returns at Mania. I'm kind of referring to the idea of the debuting Goldberg on Sunday with a run-in or something. My kind of intended thought was that people don't get to make their debut appearances at Wrestlemania. Guest Brian Report post Posted March 29, 2003 I think it works better for Brock to be reclaiming the title at his first Manai.
