"Peace" Activists

Read off a sign at the SF anti-war protest:

"We Support Our Troops When They SHOOT Their Officers."

Just checking --- they don't HATE the military, right?

I support peace in general but those people sound like fucking morons.

I don't approve of this war for a number of reasons, the biggest being that I don't feel that war was neccasary to accomplish the mandate established by The U.S. and the U.N.

I think these people have completely lost the point of why they're protesting.

I mean these people are supposed to be for peace yet they go out and cause more violence or belittle people who's lives there messing up.

They're for peace but in some cities they occupy so much of the police's time that they risk everyone's lives to either crime or another terrorist strike.

I think the people still have a point why they're protesting. They want to protest because it is common knowledge among many circles that president Bush is "evil" and everything he does is "wrong" so they decide they have to bring the drawmuh and skip highschool to go lie down in someone's road.

And, personally, I hope they continue with the mindless pap that they've used thus far.

Nothing in the world will turn people against you faster than irritating the heck out of them by blocking traffic during rush hour.

Heck, why not go to office buildings and give out paper cuts, too?

Wow, way to go. Pick out ONE bad example to represent the rest of the protestors.

I applaud you.

Then explain why the UN hasn't ENFORCED their mandate.

They sent Weapons Enspectors. Things were going slowly and I too was getting frustrated but there was no need to start a WAR over it. That's over 50 American and British Soldiers and countless Iraqi civilians who could have been saved by a little more patience.

CWM, the Iraqis had been given 12 years to clean up their act but refused. More weapons inspectors wouldn't have done a DAMN thing since Hans Blix was burying information that would have required that the UN members do more than stand around with their thumbs up their asses.

While no one wants war, I'm sure a lot of you would have been at the the Berlin Conference in 1938 signing over a huge chunk of Czechoslovakia to Hitler in order to preserve "peace in our time" because you thought that you were actually saving lives. Funny how that only made Hitler MORE likely to push his luck and caused World War II.

It had already been 12 years. That' more than enough time.

Those people piss me of to no end. You want to lay in the road? Fine. Make it legal for me to run your ass over.

If they want to protest legally, then fine.

If they do it illegally (like many do), then their asses should be thrown in jail. Simple as that.

And this goes for people on both sides of the issue.

Hey, time for a little trivia:

WHY were inspectors back in Iraq?

Because WE made it happen --- not the U.N.

The U.N had NO intention of making Saddam allow inspectors back in Iraq after he expelled them in 1998 (after all, they did have FOUR YEARS to push the issue).

Seeing as how the U.N wasn't gung-ho about inspections in the first place, why is it so hard to fathom that they likely wouldn't have punished Saddam for ANY violations?

-=Mike --- Who wishes Bush took the Clinton route and didn't even ASK the U.N for their blessing

Would this be like an old school Hogan match? And you would take control early. Then the protesters make a big comeback and take control, kicking your BUTT for a little bit. When all is lost, would you finally Hulk up, throw the three punches throw the protesters into the ropes. On the rebound would you stick your leg up for them to run into? With you finishing with the leg drop. All the while cupping your ear listening for the crowds approval.

If you did it like that, I would pay money, brutha.

Oh, you know it, brutha!

And for the big money match, I'd take on that filthy, slimy, wart-infested giant Michael Moore.

Watcha gonna do, Moore, when these 24 inch pythons run wild on YOU?!?!?!

Good point.

I think, and no I don't mean to give anyone any ideas, God I hope not, but a good place for a terroist strike would be at one of these protests.

Lots of people in a confined space. Makes a hell of alot of sense if you ask me.

most of these peaceniks are quite retarded. they need something to bitch about and think of this situation like its their 'Vietnam'. So far this has zero in common with that wars problems and these idiots waving the signs are only making fools of themselves.

Perhaps when they stop doing things that merit a jolly good bashing. The sign is an isolated incident, but the tactics these people are using are a threat to public safety. There's no need to block streets, prevent people from getting around, and draw a lot of police to a simple protest. Shout a bit, raise some signs, and be done with it.

Now that we are getting everything out, lemme address my concerns as far as the board goes. I see a lot of guys walking around, spouting retoric. They invoke keywords like "michael Moore", "The Dixie Chicks" and "liberal media LOL!" to try and prove some point. The fact that they also lay these terms like "retard pinko commie faggot AMERICAN TROOP HATER TRAITOR DIE FRENCHIE" doesn't help their position in my eyes. In fact, it makes them look right stupid. And that's what gets me going more then anything else. I see blatent stupidity, and I feel I have to step in and say something. It's not the best thing to do, but neither is dismissing anti-war supporters as being "rich college kids who don't love America".

EDIT: I'm gonna organize this into some sort of coherant form...

All of you anti-anti war peeps are slamming that sign because it endorses violence against a fellow American, yet you brag about wanting to run over protesters? How hypocritical can you get?

From someone who's standing in the middle of this mess, in the biggest college town in the country:

These protestors ARE idiots. I don't mind, and in fact endorse, thought-out and well-researched dissent. But these people are just spouting mindless phrases like "NO WAR FOR OIL" and staging mock death demonstrations like the truth kids, which is a slap in the face to the very real sacrifices our troops are making.

Funny story: My roommate brought a pro-war sign to an anti-war demonstration, and boy were the protestors pissed. The cops LOVED it though, and made extra sure that he wasn't harmed.

This mostly has to do with my personality and beliefs as well, I admit. I'm vehemently pro-Israel, so I always get sick of liberal college students supporting the Palestinians with, again, mindless propaganda like "They're SUFFERING under OCCUPATION! They just want THEIR land back!" when a quick trip to the library would disprove that in a second. If they want a well-thought-out debate, great, just don't stick that crap in my face.

To me, it seems like most of the college students around here are like "well, we're college students, we're expected to protest the war, so let's go do it. It'll be just like our parents and Vietnam!"
