Head of State

Well, I saw the Chris Rock comedy Head of State last night. I admit that the trailers didn't make it look like the greatest comedy ever, but I laughed harder than I've laughed in a long while. (Well maybe that's not true because of Old School/Shanghai Knights just coming out last month)

Regardless, it was funny. The recurring themes made me laugh out loud...such as...

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Everytime breaking news would happen, they would say...we interrupt this Jay-Z song, and then it would go back to 03 Bonnie and Clyde every time.

Everytime he called for security a black glove would just come out of nowhere and snatch whoever it was away.

The opposing candidates speeches..."God Bless America, and no place else."

I also thought Tracy Morgan and Bernie Mack was pretty damn funny in the minor roles they had. No doubt this has Chris Rock all over it...written, starring and directed. I think it's definitely worth a view.

Really?

The commercials looked lame.

Just seem like a typical movie of a guy trying to make the stiff politicians hip.

Those old ladies singing about taking their clothes off made me never wanna see this movie. I know they wouldn't do it, but after hearing Kathy Bates did a nude scene I learned to expect anything.

But I might go see it now.

I can't wait for the movie about a white guy who goes into the Ghetto and crackerfies all the blackfolk. Have them seeing Michael Bolton and shit. "The Time...The Time... The time love and tenderness, oh yeah."

I've always wondered about this double standards of sorts myself. Why is it that in instances like this it's always the white group morphing into the black group (another example would be Remember the Titans.)

I would have loved to see the players get off the bus after training camp singing "Sweet Home Alabama" or somthing like that just to see the reactions on the black athletes' parents' faces...

I am getting a bit tired of the "Black Person comes into the White World and changes everyones views on life, love, and god"-themed movies because it seems like they come out EVERY SINGLE MONTH and you can set your watch to them. The "White Person comes into the Black World and changes everyones views on live, love, and god" would almost be original (I can't think of any movie that had this theme). I can only think of an eps. of Fresh Prince where Carlton went to McAurthor Park and taught the Gangstas english proper. But he, then in turn, became a gangsta so it cancels out, yo.

Did they edit out the politically incorrect "The roof is on fire" scene?

They did spoof on that a bit in "Undercover Brother". And of course, there was the classic Eddie Murphy SNL skit "White Like Me".

A problem here is that the history books are FULL of this. I'm just saying.

But in the history books whitie tends to, you know, come into the blackmans world, enslave them, and then whitewash them and force their views, names and religious beliefs on them.

In the movie there would be a gradual acceptance and change... :)
