Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Who's a fan of The Daily Show? I loved it ever since it's inception. I was a big mark for A. Whitney Brown, and Stephen Colbert was even better. I was worried that Craig Kilborn leaving would kill the show but I think it's safe to say that Jon Stewart has KICKED ASS as the anchor, and has been better than 90% of the anchors to do Weekend Update on SNL.
Guest Eagan469 Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I haven't watched on a regular basis since Indecision 2000 - the humor has run its course, and it's not like there's alot to make fun of nowadays
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I haven't watched on a regular basis since Indecision 2000 - the humor has run its course, and it's not like there's alot to make fun of nowadays I disagree. It's gotten better since 2000. The Correspondants no longer have to carry the show as Jon Stewart is finally hitting his stride, the caustic humor is even more ironic in the wake of 9/11, (Their treatment of which gaarnered them a lot of respect) and they seem to be producing a show that's better than their counterpart on SNL.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I thought Stewart was atrocious when he started, but he just needed to warm up. He's ten times better than Kilborn ever was. Then again I don't care much for Kilborn. The five questions bit was always good for a laugh and some interest though. I really don't dig some of the new correspondents, who seem kind of bland and generic. Nancy Walls and Rachael Harris are both a third rate Beth Littleford.
Guest Annoyed Grunt Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I'm a big fan. I saw the show live in summer of 2000 and as a live show it's about a billion times better than Letterman
Guest MaxPower27 Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I watch it every now and then, if I remember to. Since Steve Carell has basically left, there's no real interest for me anymore. Those 'Slimmin' Down with Steve' vignettes were some of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.
Guest razazteca Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 The Back in Black segments are always funny
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 Stephen Colbert is god. The interview with Hillary Swank the other day was surprisingly good - a billion times better than I expected (a BILLION I say, a BILLION times better).
Guest Jack Tunney Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I only like it becuase Jon Stewart's old house is a block away from mine. His Mom still lives there.
Guest What? Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I love the Daily Show...can't wait till it's on DVD... and the Steve's kicked ass...the Even Steven/Stephen segments were hilarious
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I don't really know any of the correspondents by name except for Colbert, but whoever it was who was the guy returning from Baghdad on the day the deadline expired had me dying. Then, days later, having Colbert report from somewhere in the US by videophone was awesome. I try to catch it every night, as it never fails to get at least five out-loud laughs from me.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I don't watch it every night, although whenever I do see it I laugh several times throughout the show. And yes, the correspondents (sp?) now are just bleh...
Guest El Satanico Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I love the show and watch it almost everynight. Overall the Correspondants aren't nearly as good as they use to be, but Stephen Colbert picks up all their slack. The comment that the show's humor has ran it's course makes no sense. It's politcal/current events humor, which never goes out of style and will always be humorous. Also the comment "it's not like there's alot to make fun of nowadays" makes very little sense. With political/current events humor there's always something to make fun of.
Guest El Satanico Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 I love the Daily Show...can't wait till it's on DVD... Are you nuts? I'm not exactly sure, but there's probably at least 200 episodes a year. 200 episodes = roughly 12 seasons of a regular sitcom It'll never be on DVD...
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted April 1, 2003 Report Posted April 1, 2003 Luis Black is the funniest out of all of his correspondents. And John Stewart is way better than Craig Kilborn. They made a good choice when Craig left the show.
