Austin finally to write autobiography

by Phil Speer

Work has finally begun on the anxiously anticipated Stone Cold Steve Austin autobiography.

Austin was supposed to be among the first few Superstars to write his life story, but back then he balked at the proposal.

“When I look at my life, it’s been very normal and very boring,” Austin said, explaining why he was hesitant to write the book.

“I’ve still got reservations, but nonetheless I’m going to do one. I came back after a long absence, they dumped this book project in my lap. I could have said no again. But I think at this point in my career I’ve got a lot more to talk about than three or four years ago when they originally wanted me to write the book.

I’ve done a lot, especially with this company as Stone Cold Steve Austin. So it’ll be pretty much wrestling and my life through my eyes.”

Stone Cold has been working recently with two wrestling officials who have known him for years and are helping put the book together, Dennis Brent and Jim Ross.

“There’s a lot of things that happened in WCW and early in my career in USWA, and even a lot of stuff here in WWE when I first got on fire,” he said. “The schedule was so grueling, it seems like sometimes I turned into a zombie, but with a little poking and prodding, they jar the memory a little bit.”

Austin said he and his co-writers have also been talking to his parents, brothers and sisters in an attempt to tell his complete life story.

Austin said it is hoped that the book will be released in time for the holidays.

“Since this is my book, we’re going to try to cover pretty much everything that’s happened in my life, for better or for worse,” he said. “There’s some things in my life that I didn’t really want to talk about, but I’m going to lay pretty much every single thing I can out there, (or) as much as I possibly can. There’s a couple of things I can’t, and I’ll address the things I can’t talk about in a sentence or two, but that will be only a few things.

“If you’re into Stone Cold Steve Austin, I guess you’ll enjoy the read. I hope so.”
