Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 This move just gets worse looking every time he does it. The one he did on Jericho this past Raw looked so ridiculously bad I literally cringed when I saw it. Would it kill the Rock to slow down & perform this move correctly before someone gets hurt? Or in the very least, so that it looks *believable*?
Guest Tony149 Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 When I see him doing that I think sometimes he'll end up throwing the guy over the top rope. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if a guy like RVD took that kind of a bump.
Guest Choken One Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 Spike and RVD would be only ones with the balls to do that and that would be a cool bump but NO TABLE! just hitting the hard concrete floor!
Guest Big Poppa Popick Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 yes that move is stupid, he barely ever makes contact with his opponent, its just that the opponent does a somersault. i mean, he can do a suplex right? cant he throw...lol
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 He used to wrap his arms around the opponent before doing the throw, but now all he does is make contact (barely) w/ the guy's chest. All he needs to do is stop the guy, wrap his arms around, and then do the move. He does the Samoan Drop very quickly, too, which makes it look a bit sloppy. Nobody has gotten hurt yet, so I'm not saying Rock is dangerous in the ring, but if it did happen it wouldn't be a great shock.
Guest Choken One Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 Actully, of all the wrestlers in the WWF, The Rock would be one the guys I'd be willing to let do stuff to me. I may be wrong but I don't anyone has suffered Major Injuries via Rock as HHH, Angle, Austin, and 'Taker has. RVD and Rockwould be the tops. RVD may bust my nose but unlike Crybaby Angle, I can take a busted nose. It's blood for Mike's sake.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 Who has Taker injured? I always got the impression that he is one of the safest guys in the WWF. Same with Kane.
Guest Choken One Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 I believe he injuried himself on many occasions.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 I belive Taker gave HHH a stinger with the Tombstone piledriver at the 2000 Judgment Day PPV. That also may have been the point where the WWF cut back on the use of piledrivers.
Guest JAMES900 Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 Yeah according to lance storm rock has great timing and his easy to work with. So I'd let him perform that move on me.
Guest Choken One Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 If storm says so, It must be true.
Guest JAMES900 Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 Exactly unless your being sarcastic which i suspect you are....
Guest Army Eye Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 Although he got through it without injury, Test could've been VERY seriously hurt when Undertaker couldn't do his Poochiebomb on him. Remember this one?
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 It just looks like crap when Rock barely touches the guy, and he does a somersault as a result. It looks better when you wrap your arms around, so that you give the impression of lifting the opponent & throwing him.
Guest Choken One Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 Remember when Nash could not lift 295 pound Mike Awesome up about two years ago in the wanning days of WCW? THANK GOD Page was there to save Awesome. Awesome was litterly about .35 seconds from Instant death. Speaking of near death...Remember when ICP idiots were trying to WRASSLE and they had the Bus match and the skinny loser slid off the bus and the fat fuck caught his anke? I think that both of those incidents occured on the same night.
Guest JAMES900 Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 And you wonder why wcw lost so much money sometimes. I mean that bus match was beyond awful, I thought the truck match would have stopped the fight on moving vehicle gimmick forever.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 The Mike Awesome/ICP bus thing happened on Nitro. It looked like Awesome tried to catch the guy by the ankle while the the ICP guy was starting to fall off the bus after Mike gave him an Awesome Bomb. I don't remember Nash nearly dropping Awesome, but I remember Nash dropping Big Show on his neck at Souled Out '98.
Guest Choken One Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 I don't Wonder why they lost money, I know why. However, I don't think the Bus was moving though, wish it was though. If you're gonna have a match on a moving Vehicle, do on a Cement truck with Beniot and Nash. Then Scott can buy the Beniot Issue for $22.97 plus S&H and Nash can be errected in the ocean and block oncoming Terrorist strikes.
Guest JAMES900 Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 Yeah but BS was about 500 pounds so it a bit more understanding. But mike only 285 if he couldn't lift him safely why did he try at all.

Guest Tony149 Posted February 6, 2002 Report Posted February 6, 2002 The bus wasn't moving, but it was damn funny watching Mike trying to grab the guy by the ankles so he wouldn't fall.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted February 7, 2002 Report Posted February 7, 2002 I'd have liked it a lot of Mike had just let the stupid clown fall and die. God i hate ICP.........
Guest Kagato Otaku Posted February 7, 2002 Report Posted February 7, 2002 He *did* fall. He was Awesomebombed on top of That 70's Bus and slipped and fell to the floor.
Guest Stoned Raider707 Posted February 7, 2002 Report Posted February 7, 2002 I like awesome but he's a heath hazard. Like the bus thing with ICP, And giving Vampiro a concussion two days in a row.
Guest Captian Linger Posted February 7, 2002 Report Posted February 7, 2002 If storm says so, It must be true. Yeah...It depends where a worker's priorities are. Whether it's making the match look *good*, or to have everything be "text book" in the sense that they have good "timing" and are "easy" to work with. In a sense, it was "easy" for Lance to work with the Rock. But was it good? It's easy to go buy McDonalds, it's harder to cook Steak. Some wrestlers go out of their way to make the match look good for the fans, whether it's taking that extra bump or allowing your opponent to mutaully work stiff, these are elements that make a match look good for an audience. As a fan, I could really care less about the Rock's timing or how easy he is to work with. When I see such a piss poor execution of moves being displayed, it's not good. Of course Lance tends to put his foot in his mouth on a lot of issues. According to him, Great Sasuke CAN'T wrestle for shit and RVD is a top worker in the world. I don't remember RVD ever having a match with anyone like Sasuke had with Magnum Tokyo as an example of an experience veteran carrying a young gun to an excellent match.
Guest Army Eye Posted February 7, 2002 Report Posted February 7, 2002 I don't know if I'd blame the bus incident on Mike Awesome. That match, and in particular that awesomebomb spot, was just a BAD idea.
Guest MixxMaster Posted February 7, 2002 Report Posted February 7, 2002 To me, The Rock's offense looks so rushed. He seems to get so wrapped up, he just flies through things. Yes, that suplex is fugly, but what's much worse to me is his damn "Sharpshooter". If they would've named it something else, I may be a bit more forgiving, but it's probably just another way of the WWF saying, "Screw you Bret". Granted, at least submissions are becoming popular in the WWF...
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 7, 2002 Report Posted February 7, 2002 "a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet" it wouldnt make a difference what they called it, and i believe that owen also used the move after montreal. despite what a lot of people think, the wwf is probably not going into each week thinking "hmm, how can we insinuate that we screwed bret this week?" So Rock does the sharpshooter badly, big deal, hes hardly executing it poorly for the purposes of disrespecting bret. but i do have to agree on your point that all his offence is rushed, his throw, his punch fightbacks, samoan drop, spinebuster are all very quick. the only moves he doesnt do at light speed are rock bottom and peoples elbow.
Guest J*ingus Posted February 7, 2002 Report Posted February 7, 2002 Angle also said in his book that rock is probably the easiest guy to work with in the company. As for Rock injuring anyone with his crappy suplex, if it did happen it would be the other guy's fault. Rock barely even touches them, they do their own flip, and if it's screwed up it's because they screwed it up.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted February 7, 2002 Report Posted February 7, 2002 Not necessarily. The Rock could "touch" the opponent in the wrong spot, messing up the somersault or throwing off the guy's momentum. That's why I'd much rather see him stop, wrap his arms around, then "throw", as it would seem more safe (to me, anyway). Think about it: if I were to perform the move on you, which way would you feel safer? Me putting my hands somewhere in the vicinity of the middle of your chest as you do a somersault, or catching you for a split-second & then doing the move?
