Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted April 1, 2003 I was just wondering if anybody has information about where and when the terms "moonsault" and "shooting star press" were coined and why they were named as such. Anybody have any info?

Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 1, 2003 well considering a Sommersault is a front flip in gymnastics, a Moonsault is just a back flip, it makes sense too me. My guess would be Tony Schiavonie coined the phrase when calling a Great Muta match. of course I could be wrong.
Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted April 1, 2003 I would assume the Shooting Star Press was named as such because that's what Lyger wanted to call it, but I could be wrong. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they just picked something that sounded neat. Japan, is, after all, the home of such move names as Miracle Ecstacy Bomb and other such silly things, so yeah. Oh, and I believe that if one gets into a moonsault position, then flips an extra rotation so they land on their back, it's called a Moonsent, or something like that...s maybe the term "Moon" means something. Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 1, 2003 it's called a Moonsent would'nt that be a reverse senton???
Guest j.o.b. squad Report post Posted April 1, 2003 I woude think it is caled the moonsault becose when you do it you travel thru the air slowly and gracefully like the moon. As for the ssp you are traveling with less distance and not very graceful just like when a shooting star burns up in the atmosphere. at least that is what i think
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 1, 2003 SSP = Some idea Lyger got from somewhere that he thought was call. Moonsault has some stuff about arching over like the move and such.
Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted April 1, 2003 I always wondered how the panty drop elbow drop got its name. Any anwers?
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 1, 2003 Yes. Danny Doring had lots of sex related stuff in his move names. Like G Spot Sweep, etc. Panty Drop Elbow just part of his gimmick.

Guest Galactic Gigolo Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Personally, I liked Trent Acid's Full MoonSault. He doesn't do it anymore, but when he would do it, he'd (I believe) do one normal moonsault, go up to the opposite corner, and then pull down his pants halfway exposing his ass, and his another moonsault.
