Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted April 1, 2003 ok, when i list my favorite bands, the usual suspects (beatles, queen, the who, etc.) are usually listed without hesitation but to see fearhavoc's sig gives me faith that there are other ST fans in existence. no other band can fill me with more emotion than mike muir and company and their music is one of the few reasons i am still alive today. what they lack in style, they make up with pure emotion and heart. Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted April 1, 2003 Cuicycos represent! I *heart* Suicidal Tendencies. While their newer stuff is kinda meh, and their oldest stuff (First two albums) isn't really my style, the stuff in between is SO GOOD it's not even funny. I think the best part about the band is that they're actually intelligent; They're not out there just yelling random things and acting like they wanna kill themselves - More often then not, they're making some valid point about something, and when they're not doing that, I honestly don't think Muir is *acting* like he wants/wanted to kill himself. And yeah, they do like to yell about random shit every now and again, but when they do that, it's awesome, so I really can't complain. A lot of my favourite song quotes are straight from ST - "I never said I don't like religon/I just don't like TV" is probably the best example, but I know I'm skipping out on a number of great lines by just putting that. Also, I must say that I *love* the sarcasm that's literally dripping from the song "Lovely". Hell, I love that whole CD. The only thing that bothers me about ST is that anyone who doesn't listen to them only knows one thing: "Aren't they that band that did that song about like, get me a Pepsi, or something?" There's SO much more stuff out there beyond "Institutionalized" that it makes me sick that people don't notice it. Bah. Screw them all. "And if I could have a dream come true/All I'd wish for is that you/Could see things as I do/But that would take another miracle" "There's some things that you're not supposed to talk about, like, all the things I ever think about . . . Seems like the world is leaving me behind/When I try to explain, you say I've lost my mind/You say I need some help, well, why else did you think I was talking to you?" "If we show it enough, everyone will think it's alright" "[People] don't want to have the finger pointed at them . . . Why is your life fucked you? Because you were the one leading it, and you did a shitty job." - Mike Muir. Yeah, I remembered some more. But that'll off the top of me head, so I could be off. Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted April 1, 2003 Goddamn, I haven't thought about Suicidal Tendencies in forever. It's been a while since I've listened to any of their stuff, but I've been a fan of ST pretty much since seeing the "Send me your money" video on headbanger's ball way, waaay back in the day. I remember both How will I laugh tomorrow and Lights camera revolution as pretty great albums, and their debut was pretty good too. I wish all of my old cassettes weren't at my parents house, 'cause I'd kinda like to pop one in now.

It's been about 10 years since I thought about them (looking at their discography, the latest one I recognize is 1993's Still Cyco After All These Years). I may even have a copy of Lights Camera Revolution on a Maxell tape sitting around in a closet somewhere, which I'll have to dig out now.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted April 1, 2003 My favorite ST story is back when they first started, for some reason there was the belief that there was all this bad blood between them and the guys in Black Flag. So the fans of the two bands started a mini-war. The bands didn't have any beef, so they played a joint-show in some garage somewhere to prove that they got along. Allegedly, there's a video of this show out there somewhere. Damn, I'd LOVE to see that video.

Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted April 2, 2003 3 suicidal songs... "war inside my head", "feel like shit...deja-vu", and "alone" were fucking anthems that got me through my darkest hour. while art of rebellion wasn't really my vibe, "i'll hate you better" is one of the greatest songs of the 90's. Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted April 2, 2003 Infectious Grooves were nothing to sneeze at either. I always thought ST/Infectious Grooves and Faith No More paved the way for the Chilli Peppers, but usually no one mentions that. Or, agrees with me.
Guest swan Report post Posted April 2, 2003 They were huge in the skate culture of the late 80's. I saw 'em live in 94 opening for Metallica and Danzig. I also dug the Infectious Grooves big time.
