I'm assuming everyone saw the promo for Confidential where Piper claims he was responsible for the success of the first Wrestlemania so it seems obvious they are heading towards Hogan vs. Piper at Backlash. Great two guys fighting who are about 10 years from having their food chewed for them...oh wait we just saw that at Wrestlemania.

Dont you think youre making conclusions too quickly Chicken Little? They could do the match, but they might throw in Mr. T and Zeus because god knows somebody needs to carry the match.

So we get Hulk vs Piper again?

...sigh... and Vince wonders why this company seems to be sucking badly lately.

As long as it's not for the World Title, and not the main event, I'm perfectly ok for some old school action.

I like it much better this way than when it was headlining WCW shows. It's not like Hogan is going to have a good match anyway...might as well beat someone who doesn't matter in the long run.

I concur with bps and DH. This will likely be a sort of Special Attraction to Smackdown. Heck, Hogan is a sort of special attraction in himself. He is not in the title picture nor is he likely to be, and I prefer it this way.

As much as I hate for it to be like that, it's how it is and how it should be. Just like Ric Flair is about where he should be. It actually hurts me to see my favorites from years ago to be reduced to this, but times to change.

I have no problem with Hogan/Piper just one more time. Sure we had it in WCW, but not on a WWE stage in a very long time. It will really be a great experiance for me, as I'm a huge mark for both of these guys...this is of course in the thinking that they do have a feud or a match.

Hey, I'm marking the fuck out for this. Of course, Piper was one of my idols growing up--I always marked for the heels and hated the faces, and Piper was an awesome heel. Hell, I even read his book.

Really though, as long as it doesn't get too much attention and TV time, then it's not that offensive. Like bps said, Hogan is definitely going to wrestle and that's a guaranteed stinker anyway. So why not throw Piper in there? This way, you don't waste a real wrestler (Hogan's not gonna job to anyway we like anyway), get a few buys (this will have a non-trivial net positive impact on the buyrate for the PPV), and generate good heat from the live crowd. And probably good interest from the TV crowd as well, as long as they don't go overboard with Hogan's 10 minute pops and his stupid ass promos.

The problem will occur if this match gets too much TV time to promote it--which it very likely will.

Don't jump to conclusions just yet. Maybe they just figured since Piper was around during Wrestlemania planning they were like, "While you're here, let's tape a Confidential segment and make the most of it." That's what I hope. And we can only hope.

Flair's not where he should be. He should have never turned heel. That hurt them. As much as I'd rather not see nay of them wrestle at this point, though Hogan at times can work smart and Flair's good, they need to be side attractions and they need to be faces. As actual draws, there's no foundation..

Guest bps "The Truth" 21

What do you mean? There was ample reason for Flair to turn heel! If he hadn't there may have been no excuse for HHH to bury RVD. And then...he couldn't be the dumber half of the tag team champions...with Kane.

I mean as a manager type role, instead of a full time wrestler.

None of them should be wrestling. But if they're going to be, this is the way.

Fuck Hogan, Fuck Piper, Fuck Nash, Fuck Goldberg

...and most importantly

Fuck all the hyprocrites that are just fine with WWe doing Piper vs. Hogan, but would've ripped WCW apart if they did Hogan vs. Piper anywhere on the card.

Good day...Gentlemen

1popup is saying that Piper's appearance was a one-time deal, but who's to say. They aren't the bastion of credibility anyway.

Satanico does raise a good point. Had they... um, WHEN they did this in WCW during the Ratings Wars, WWF fans bashed it to hell. Didn't Jim Cornette bash it once while doing RAW commentary? Now, it's alright. How things change.

You are right BPS, why is RVD being booked as a dumbass(the only guy that's really over in this team), while Kane is supposed to be the cool guy? This looks to me like a rehash Rock and Sock connection, where Foley was the Rock's goofy follower. With that booking nobody will take Rob serious as a true contender for the World title. When is Vince going to realize that this is a wrestling show and not a dumb sitcom?

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments of Mr Satanico.

Your all nothing but a bunch of hypocrites if you dare say that this has ANY place on a wwe card.

The WWE has the largest possible array of talent to use at this point and to even placate such a bone-headed decision is ridiculous.

It will only lead vince to believe he can make more stupid decisions in the future(Which he undoubtedly will.)

This whole fiasco reminds me of a thread someone posted a year ago about the "lost generation" of superstars that should be have been main-eventing years ago and yet here we are in 2003 and F'N Hogan is still around winning world titles and taking up valuable tv time that could go to a young up and comer.

And for all you hogan/piper/whoever marks who still say it's good just to reminisce when they're on tv again, that's what videotapes are for.

All i got to say about people that are marking out for the idea of a fat Piper/decaying Hogan match shouldn't call themselves Smarks and go rent the Age in the Cage tape from Dubbya-c-dubbya.

They shouldn't be called "smarks" b/c they have a different opinion?

You guys are reading far too much into things. Yeah, okay, Piper did a segment for Confidential. Does that mean he's going to main event pay-per-views and battle Hogan for the world title? Um...no.

Why did people bash Hogan / Piper in WCW? Because the entire company revolved around it. Because Hogan was the world champion. It would not be that way today. Look at Mania - everyone was freaking out because it was assumed by many that Hogan / Vince would be the last match. It wasn't. It was high on the card, yes, because it was a special attraction - but it didn't take anything away from Brock / Angle which rightfully closed the show.

I have to agree with this. I'm a huge Piper mark, and I'm enjoying the way their using Hogan right now. They may not be what they once were, but it's not like they were high flyers before. A month of old school Piper-Hogan promos should be enjoyable. The match will suck from a workrate standpoint, but I'll be laughing my ass off at the eye poke spot.

Lawler is bad enough as it is about making controversial statements on-air...

As much as I DESPISE Lawler... I couldn't see Piper being any better
