Guest kelloggs Report post Posted April 2, 2003 As the metal bed enters the cylindrical apparatus, I blink, unsure that I’m going to be okay. The contraption slides further in the hole and I can’t help but feel sick. Feel scared, because I know. I’ve seen the symptoms before… and in fact, I know we both have them. What did I expect after the “Goddamn WAR”, as I put it? We really did leave it all in the ring and I’m RESILIENT damnit. I had to kick out of every head drop he threw me into. That’s what I do, cause it’s what everyone expects of me… Buzzzzzzzzz “Huh,” I say as my eyes dart too and fore. “What the hell was that?” I must look a little apprehensive. Check that, very apprehensive, but I’m not a kid anymore. I’m nineteen and as grown up as it gets. I can’t go back to my protective blanket and say it’s all gonna’ be alright. I grew up a lot over the past year. From a brash kid dependent on the people around me, to a man that gained the respect I always wanted. I will not give in. Cause it’s not what everyone expects of me… “It’s okay Mr. Francis, that’s a normal occurrence.” says Doctor something or other as I quickly blink. His name escapes me at the time. I’m normally sharp as a tack when it comes to names, which I know is another side effect. How could I lose to Ash… wait… he changed his name, but I honestly can’t remember. Everything is fuzzy, but I know I lost the title. I MUST get it back. Cause everyone expects me… A blue wave of light covers my face, as I come out of my blank stare and the mechanical hissing from the device continues. I just want to get out of here and back to the ring. I have to prove it was a fluke. Cause everyone expects… The noise stops as I exit the machine, my eyes fluttering like a butterfly while I try to shake off this groggy feeling and I can tell he’s biting back his first thoughts by the look on his face. My heads strapped onto the bed, so I can’t see his face, but the way he excused himself said it all. I know, but I don’t care. Cause everyone... Blink Blink Blink… Blink Blink… Blink… It’s been five minutes and he’s looked at everything. I already know what he’s going to say, but I won’t give up. No… I can’t give up. Cause… “Mr. Francis,” he starts, looking at me attentively, tilting his head to the side, as I must look like I’m off in la-la land, “I know what everyone expects of you, but when you came to me after From the Fire, I told you about your condition.” My attention’s starting to wander and his voice is getting softer. “You can’t keep going out there because I’m afraid that you won’t be able to defend yourself from getting knocked unconscious like you were last show, after that powerful choke slam.” …Blink… “Mr. Williams is taking the month off on the behest of his doctor and I think you should do the same. You both…” …blink… Mr. Francis… Mr. Francis… … …Mr. Franc- SNAP Was he talking to me? He must have been. I’m okay. I know what my body can take. “I don’t care what you say.” His fingers stay in front of my face as he looks at me skeptically. My glazed over expression must be the cause of that response. “Concussion or not I want my respect back. He’ll tap, then cry like a bitch for making me lose the title… cause I expect better of myself.” And who the fuck is anyone to tell me otherwise.

Guest realitycheck Report post Posted April 2, 2003 Damn, that was sweet. I don't think I've ever really seen anyone tackle an injury promo like that. It's serious, and shows that Mak is pasionate about wrestling, and his place in the fed, even with a potentially serious injury hanging over him. Although, with the way you approached the concussion... I hope that isn't some kind of foreshadowing. -Z
