Popular Indy Wrestlers

Just picking up on this while neck injury in WWE thing going on. WWE wrestlers are saying it is due to the amount of dates they work a year. To my knowledge, not many of the current big Indy Wrestlers have experienced a need for this surgery. So, how many dates a year do they work? If it is as much or more than current WWE wrestlers, then surely the neck injuries must be due to something else?

If you mean like Christopher Daniels... he has had serious neck problems according to the ROH commentary teams. The other guys like American Dragon, Low Ki, and AJ Styles are all pretty young as far as I'm aware so they haven't been ground away as much as a older WWE guy has been.

Well, since they usually work on the weekends, probably between 50 and 100 dates a year. Of course, they may also consist of working multiples matches a night, or working gimmick matches more often the Weeeeee wrestlers do. Also, on the whole, indy wrestlers work much longer matches then Weeee wrestlers do.

I think a factor might be that indy wrestlers don't hold back in the ring, and therefore are more acustomed to be dropped on their head then weeeeee wrestlers, who have to hold back so much that they can't do at full speed, and that's where injurys happen. Also, indy wrestlers tend to be more flexible and less muscle-bound then weeeeeeeeeeee's roided up hosses.

well if they work the whole year you are looking at around 104 dates a year if they have one weekend show and one middle of the week show

i think the less injurys to the big name stars has more to do with evolution. if you dont know how to protect your self you will get injured before you are known. so the names are guys who know how to work without geting seriously hurt.

while the wwe stars are more consened with looking good in the ring so that the office will notice them and push them and just becose you look good doesent mean you can work safe(goldberg)

the reason they mention neck problems, probably is because of his match against michael modest on Nitro, where daniels went for the top rope lionsault, slipped, and landed on his head

Somewhat funny story.

Right before the Daniels/Morgan vs. Modest/Dragon tag title match, I was sitting right next to Daniels as he was stalling on the outside, with Modest in the ring waiting for him.

I yelled at him: "Hey Daniels, try not to fall on your head this time."

His reply: "Thanks for the advice assbag."

So, Christopher Daniels called me an assbag. That felt pretty cool.

ShooterJay - isn't that like the most smarky comment anyone could ever make to a wrestler!?! And I thought you were above that!

In all seriousness, my mates and I think about things we would say to a wrestler if we saw them knowing full well if we ever did it would be a 'can I have your autograph please?' and nothing more...

I don't really consider it a "smarky" comment. To draw a legit sports comparison, it's no different from making fun of Jose Canseco for letting a home run ball bounce off of his head. Plus I wasn't serious- I was trying to keep a straight face the whole time.

A real "smarky" comment, imo, would be, for example- making fun of Eddy Guerrero for his drug use.

That's hilarious.

Everyone always yells stuff at Daniels at ROH shows- it's part of the fun. Especially when he yells back.

I was riding Donovan Morgan but he never responded once

At Expect the Unexpected in Cambridge me, my friend, and a few guys in our section started doing the Curry Man dance toward Daniels and making references to him being less of a man than the "Spicey One". He just kept pointing at us and yelling stuff like "Shut up I don't know what you idiots are talking about!" It was great.
