Guest GameCop Report post Posted April 2, 2003 -In addition to cocaine, Pillman took Ephedrine -- a drug that keeps one's weight down; it gives wrestlers that "cut" look. -He also injected HGH (human growth hormone) into his bloodstream two times per day! -Moreover, he swallowed a bevy of pain pills each day. - Vince helped Melanie out by giving her a total of 127,000 dollars. My question is: Don't you think other wrestlers are abusing their bodies like Pillman did before his death? This is getting out of hand...I'm sure over 50% of all wrestlers take steroids and/or HGH. Things have to be done before more wrestlers die prematurely.
Guest commie_050 Report post Posted April 2, 2003 Unless Vince stops pushing guys due to size and look, wrestlers will continue to abuse their bodies in order to insure success. I'm sure Pillman felt the need to pack excess muscle onto his frame with HGH because of his smaller size.
Guest swan Report post Posted April 2, 2003 It's not just happening in wrestling.
Guest commie_050 Report post Posted April 2, 2003 True, but the WWE (along with the "sport" of professional bodybuilding) is the only one which requires not only physical strength, agility, and the like, but also an aesthetically appealing physique (unless you're the Big Show or Albert). As a result, wrestlers not only train, but use HGH, ephedrine, and anabolics to create a more "cut" physique (see Triple H).
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2003 They know the consequences. If they want to do it, they're going to do it. And I don't know if there is a way to get rid of 100% of drug abuse in ANY sport - especially wrestling.
Guest snuffbox Report post Posted April 2, 2003 This happens all the time, even with high school athletes...I know. There is a huge public and personal demand for size and skill. Time and again Im seeing it as a recipe of disaster, not only for the effects but for the sheer amount of people affected.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2003 Vince pushes unbelievably hight expectations on his wrestlers due to his love of "big men". They have to get bigger to please Vince. Look at HHH, Angle, and Jericho. Look at how they looked when they first came to the WWE as opposed to now.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted April 3, 2003 I'd like to see some before and after comparison with a lot of the worst cases, so we can see the changes in their bodies, as well as their hairlines.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2003 Angle looked great when he first debuted, but then he started getting bigger and thicker. HHH's was pretty obvious.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 3, 2003 Yeah, cause god knows a man can't change his look without the use of steroids.

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2003 I didn't say steriods. We're also talking about HGH here too. Any of the above drugs and supplements listed for Pillman is what we're discussing. I guess Jericho hasn't been that much. He could have just normally bulked up.
Guest teke184 Report post Posted April 3, 2003 Yeah, cause god knows a man can't change his look without the use of steroids. Take a look at Trips in 1995 vs. Trips when he returned in 2002 and say that. The man came back 15+ pounds heavier after each injury, starting with his first big knee injury in 1997. Hunter in 1995 = average size. Hunter in early 1998 = above average size. Hunter in early 1999 = Mini-hoss Hunter in early 2002 = "GODDAMN, did he swallow Sid?" Guest XdojimeX Report post Posted April 3, 2003 Soo...we have a dead pro-wrestler + cocaine, HGH, and pain killers. Um, where are the key points I should be surprised about? Wrestler's expiring prematurely has been going on for a while now and will continue to do so. Its an accepted side effect of the business. I think only a real hard look from main stream press would inspire any changes to be made. Maybe. As it stands now its just a traffic accident for the media to rubber neck every once and awhile. Indeed, take a look at Trips in late 1998. He was muscular but had baby fat all over. Fastforward to July 1999 and he looks like a completely different person. I'm sorry, but it's damn near impossible for someone to totally changer their physique in that time frame. It's even more impossible when you are travelling 5 days a week. Trips had to be cycling something during that time.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted April 3, 2003 Personally, I miss the looks of wrestlers from the older days, where it was NOT all about being "cut" and so musclular. If the industry, wasn't so obessed with that look, as WELL as the viewing public and the media overall, we wouldn't have these guys killing themselves in the first place. I'm not an expert on this, but is this type of problem as prevelant over in Japan? Those guys don't look overly cut and the such. The only problem I'd ausme goes on there would be pain pills, if that.

Right after he turned heel, he started growing to Yokozuna like proportions.
