if you were to jump off a bridge

I’m not suicidal or anything, but I've pondered this, if you were to jump off a bridge into water, can you survive, or is it a one way death ticket?

OMG Promoting Sueycyde!

BAN PLZ~! Or inundate with Judas Priest records...

seriously though, I think you have several factors to consider... height of the bridge, weight of the person, time of the year (is the water below frozen or not)

I think if you take a digger off the Golden Gate in August you're fish food...

Why do you ask?

If you hit the water going fast enough, it's literally like hitting concrete. You can easily break your back or kill yourself if you jump in from high enough.

Just watch - if other people jump off and survive, you're probably fine.

Steve-O from Jackass has jumped off some fairly high bridges and he's still alive, but he may not be human.

What's wrong with suicide?? Jesus, haven't I taught you people anything??? :rolleyes:

Austin got thrown off a bridge once...remember that? Remember?

...Depends how high the bridge is.

Seriously, if it is extremely high, then probably not. If it's medium height, it's all in how you land in the water.

make sure you do a 450 splash on the way down~!

Haven't you seen that one Marines commercial? Go in straight as you can feet first with legs together and BUTT cheeks clenched and you may be able to survive with your life. Maybe not fully functional legs, but probably your life. Then again that was off a waterfall, so what do I know?

And if you don't want that, do a Frog Splash with an ultra delayed pump for us all.

If it is off the top beam of the George Washington Bridge, Do aShooting Star to your death.

If it is off a bridge no higher than 5 feet just jump off like you are on a stage.

Well, the Giant fell off of a tall building and survived without a scratch. According to that logic, since I'm a Dungeon of Doom mark, I should be able to do the same.

I used to bridge jump into a river near my house from about 35 feet or so ... other than one kid who landed way wrong and broke his hip, we were all fine. People still jump from there now without problems.

It depends on a variety of factors:

1. Height of the bridge;

2. The angle of your body when you hit the water;

3. Biology (i.e., your body makeup, whether you're a fat slob or an Olympic swimmer);

4. Depth of the water (rocks hurt!);

5. Pure luck.

We have a pretty big bridge in my city that some people have attempted suicide on--some people make it and die and every once and a while some people make it. It really wierd thinking someone could survive that high of a fall.

If it's less than 40 feet, and you've got at least 15 feet of water, you're cool.
