I need some help with WWE DVDs

Recommended Posts

Guest HartFan86

Okay, I'm into technology and stuff, so let's just say I know a thing or two. Now, I've finally gotten into DVDs and buying a DVD player itself last May-June, but I'm really not knowledgeable of DVDs (like what exactly the terms used for the picture quality, etc.) So bare with me...

My question...I recently purchased the Rumble 2003 DVD and it looks....I dunno, the quality looks choppy. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it just doesn't seem like very good DVD quality and I'm pretty sure it's not the DVD (could be wrong). Now, I'm thought about why this could be and is it because WWE rushes their DVDs out way too quickly and do a half ass job in making them? I know that some of the previous WWE DVDs I have are better quality then this one.

Hopefully someone can help me out.

Well that isn't the "best" brand. I believe those are like APEX ones. I generally recommend staying to name brands.... even the cheap models of Sony, RCA, Toshiba etc.

Great quality but perhaps fewer features.

I paid 70 bucks, so go fig.

My friend has a Sony he got for a few hundred bucks a few years back, so I'll try it at his house soon.

I thought it had more to do with the DVD then the DVD player itself, but that's why I made this post :)

If you do find that the player is the problem and if you can return the player pay like the extra 30 bucks for the bottom line name brand DVD players. You will be glad you did.

it probably looks pixelated sometimes on WWE DVDs, because thay have to compress like 4 hours of A/V on one disc most of the times and the quality has to decrease a little for this....

That sounds like the answer because Mania 2000 is like that. No Mercy 2001 plays very good (Because there are no extras).

Fucking WWE...cramming everything in.

Does anyone else know of problems with WWE DVDs?

Edit: I just check my reciept for the DVD player...52.30. And I haven't had ANY problems whatsoever with this player...and it really is excellent for the price.

yeah, if you watch Disc 2 of the Wrestlemania 2000 DVD, with the History Of Wrestlemania features, whenever Gerald Brisco/Pat Patterson talk, the shade of black they're against is VERY pixelated

Often the brand of DVD player isn't everything. My Apex works better than my Panasonic and I paid much more for the Panasonic.

another example is Wrestlemania X8, it looks great because it was divided in two discs, so the quality doesn't suffer...

now see for example SummerSlam 2002 and the video looks pixelated at some points, because the dics has a fairly amount of extras that take more space in the DVD...

I've said this once before but it's still the coolest thing on a WWF DVD EVER.

Go watch the Wrestlemania 2000 DVD. During Triple H's entrance, with all of the lights changing colors on him, he completely pixilates until he's finished with his pose and starts walking up the ramp.

That reminds me. I have a funny story for you guys.

My best friend was going to get a DVD player from his father for Christmas. His pops had bought two DVD players, one Sharp and one Apex. He asked him which one he wanted so he could give the other to his grandmother.

My friend chose the Apex.

I asked him why on Earth he would do such a thing and he thought that Apex was actually a better brand!

I gave him the low down on it and then he tried to concoct a scheme to trade players with his Grandmother, putting some of the Apex features over, but no dice.

He still has that shit in his room.

Apex or no Apex, WWF DVDs aren't the discs to showcase AV quality. At best they look decent, but given that they're only broadcast quality in the first place, squished onto a DVD with (usually) a few features, they're usually not pretty. Oh, for the day Vince starts using digital cameras. Hey, wait a minute...
