Guest treble charged Report post Posted March 22, 2002 Basically, what are some of your favourite matches that have taken place on free TV, maybe even one's that aren't usually mentioned. One that I like is Austin/Shamrock from Raw 09/14/98. Very good technical match with a lot of mat wrestling. Unfortunately, the ending sucked, with Kane, Undertaker, Mankind, and the Rock all making run ins.

Guest treble charged Report post Posted March 22, 2002 Well yeah, anytime Austin and Angle get together, it's gold, especially on TV IMO. The Austin/Benoit matches from the Calgary/Edmonton shows were also great, as was the 10 man tag match (Benoit/Saturn/Malenko/X-Pac/HHH vs. Cactus Jack/Rock/Too Cool/Rikishi) from Feb. 2000. But that Austin/Shamrock match is really good, and it goes a good 15 minutes before the shitty ending.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted March 22, 2002 Foley's title win. Y2Chris vs Austin/HHH Tag Match Angle vs Kane on SD! a while back Jericho vs HHH, the Phantom Title Win TLC III Kane vs HHH, Cage Match, LONG way back, before WMXV Angle vs Benoit, Cage Match Some of these aren't mat classics, but tension and atmosphere went through the roof, making them just as enjoyable as a good wrestling match. Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 22, 2002 Any of the Angle-Austin TV matches in 2001 (at least 2 in the ****+ range) The Clique tag match (123 Kid and Razor vs. Diesel and HBK in 1994, included on Slamfest 95 tape) Flair and Windham vs. Eddie Gilbert and a mystery partner (Steamboat) in late 88 / early 89. Guest Brian Report post Posted March 22, 2002 The ten man tag, even though I've seen better, was really good given some of the people. It was super-hot which made it at the time for me, but I haven't really seen it in a while.

Guest Brian Report post Posted March 22, 2002 It was super exciting watching it, just like the infamous two man power trip/canadians match, but doesn't really seem great thinking about it now.

Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 22, 2002 Austin/Benoit form late 2000. They had 2 matches shortly after Austin's return. The first was a tech. match and teh 2nd more of an Austin brawl. Austin won both cleanly with the Stunner, but they were the first good matches he had after teh surgery. I remeber being a little bit nervous for him him when Benoit hit the Germans, but Benoit protected him well. I metioned these because both were very good and seem to have been forgotten. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted March 22, 2002 The Last Thunder had 3 excellent cruiserweight matches... Jason Jett vs Kid kash (Kash does the money maker and DOES NOT get the win) Jung Dragons vs Air Raid (Styles clash AND 2 perfect drivers) Helms/Kidman/Rey vs Chavo/Skipper/Romeo (need I say more?) Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted March 22, 2002 Of course you can say stuff like TLC 3 and the Austin/HHH vs. Chrises match. But last year I enjoyed the RVD stuff he did on regular TV as well. His match with Austin was pretty good and was a big time mark out for me. And the matches with Angle where he busted him open from the mouth and nose were as stiff and graphic as it gets. No one has said it: Flair/Perfect on Raw in 1993, Flair had to leave. To me that is the greatest TV match ever. From that time period: Michaels/Bulldog where Michaels won the IC title. It still makes me sick today. Whenever I see someone now pull off the turnbuckle, I always think of this match. So it had some impact. This would be the last SNME. Another good early Raw match: Razor Ramon/Rick Martel for the IC title when it was vacant. Nothing facy exactly but it was just well done. There are a million more. Guest Van-Daminated Report post Posted March 22, 2002 ok this match hasnt been mentioned before but i remember really getting into a Bret Hart Vs. 123 Kid match for the Word Title on Monday Night Raw. It must have been sometime in 93-94 or so because it was in the place where they taped all the Monday Night Raws for quite some time(the name escapes me at this time). but anyways it ate up almost the whole show (except for a Razor Ramon 2 minute squash back when they still had jobbers on tv) and it was during The 123 Kids angle where he was getting all the huge upset wins and i was only 10-11 at the time so i was still a mark and the crowd was super hot and I actually BELIEVED the 123 Kid could win but i remember the match being very exciting with a bunch of near falls. I think i remember Hart winning with a roll up or somethung of that kind anyway thats one of the ones i think people forget when talking about good tv matches,or it could be that i was young and a mark and it sucked:). also who could forget the mat classic that triple h and shawn micheals put on for the european title on raw a few years back

Guest Zoltan Report post Posted March 22, 2002 Benoit vs Eddy Guerreo from WCW Nitro from 1995 it was Benoit's debut and it was a ****+ match with a SICK powerbomb from Benoit. Has to be seen to be appreciated. And I have it and I've watched it 10 times and it still doesn't get boring.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted March 22, 2002 The Benoit - Raven -DDP confrontations from various Nitros/Thunders (i.e. the various one on one matches of benoit vs DDP, benoit vs Raven, raven vs DDP) anyone remember when these occured?
Guest GatesFTW Report post Posted March 22, 2002 Louey Spiccoli vs Larry Zbysko also kicked some serious ass. I miss Louey, but apparently Louey never missed a date with Mr. Brownstone. One time, at the Fleetcenter, me and some peeps were sitting in the nosebleed seats, and we started a Larry Sux chant. His mom was sitting in front of us and she admonished us. Dont you think if Larry REALLY love his mum, he would hooked her wrinkled ass up with some premium club seats? And yes, if you're wondering, we all did have sex with Mom Zbysko. It was good. Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted March 22, 2002 I am assuming that is a joke about the Valentine/Garvin matches? That said, check out the Royal Rumble 1990 match for real, that one was actually shockingly cool. Bret vs. Hakushi was BAD ASS back in 1995 on Raw, and I saw that one live. First time I had seen a moonsault to the floor. I dunno if it was televised but on that same show Bret and Shawn tagged against someone, I forgot who. Men on a Mission maybe? Guest WWF4Life Report post Posted March 22, 2002 The two European title matches between Owen and the Bulldog. The first (the tourney final) was superb, as was the rematch, which then brought the Hart Foundation back together. Cool!! Bulldog was so underrated back then. Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted March 22, 2002 I've always been partial to the Sasuke/TAKA Raw re-match the night after Canadian Stampede, just 'cause Sasuke breaks out the Space Flying Tiger Drop. Another WCW one that I'm not sure I saw mentioned was when DDP challenged Sting for the WCW title on a Nitro sometime after the Hogan/Sting Starrcade match. I don't remember the exact date, but I do remember that it was a pretty intense match and one of the best face/face matchups I'd ever seen on live TV. Guest Report post Posted March 22, 2002 Benoit v. Malenko, Nitro, late '97. One of the most amazing displays of mat wrestling I have ever seen. Jericho defeating HHH for the world title on Smackdown, only to have the belt returned to HHH later in the show. Massive markout moment for me...
