Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted April 4, 2003 My apologies if this has been posted before... Well it appears as if Sum 41, Limp Bizkit, Korn and AVRIL LAVIGNE have been confirmed to be playing the Metallica MTV Icon show. More acts forthcoming of course. Let me just say, it is REALLY a bad sign when I can look at a line up and say "Korn is the most talented act in that" I will however shit my pants if Lavigne does Creeping Death. I will then throw said shit at the TV.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted April 4, 2003 This will probably only be songs from And Justice For All and later my friend. Avril + Enter Sandman = RATINGS~! Or rising bile in your throat.
Guest mesepher Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Let me just say, it is REALLY a bad sign when I can look at a line up and say "Korn is the most talented act in that" yikes. This is definitely going to be one to record... but honestly, who did you expect to play tribute to Metallica?
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Hasn't LB done a cover of Master of Puppets? *Shudders and sticks the Dream Theater cover on*
Guest mesepher Report post Posted April 4, 2003 yeah, I download that LB song once... they introduced it by saying "well, we've ran out of songs to play" and then they stopped right before the first solo, haha.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 What a shock.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Well I say it's time we bet on one which band will do which songs. Korn will most likely be doing One, they do it live occasionaly and it gives Jon Davis a chance to do his wounded puppy routine. Any other guesses on the rest?
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Ok, and ther covers list just gets worse. Can they atleast just butcher the later, crappy, albums, rather than the Classics that are the first three.
Guest Zero_Cool Report post Posted April 4, 2003 I know that Hetfield isn't exactly the greatest guitarist in the world...so how exactly is Lavigne supposed to be able to play something hard and fast from the old days? Meh, nevermind. She'll probably just do "Low Man's Lyric" or something.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 She doesn't have a chance. Too bad none of the good covers from the tirbute albums for bootlegs (Master Of Puppets by Dream Theater, whole album is out there) will be on.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Cannibal Corpse did a cover of No Remourse on their latest album "Gore Obsessed"(they also performed it live April 2002 when I saw them) and on their VHS release "Eats Moscow Alive" they said, "old Metallica is a heavy influence on us" this tape was made approx 1993 so obviously they weren't too happy with the black album either. So how about MTV call up a band that actually had some influence on them instead of the latest pop sensations that like to make devil horns with their hands in their spare time. Guest cartman Report post Posted April 4, 2003 ...Must...Have...DT cover of MOP...Can't....find on Kazaa....Help! Nevermind I found it, and 2 other Metallica Covers!
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Sum 41-Fade to Black Limp Bizkit-Unforgiven Korn-Mama Said AVRIL LAVIGNE-Master of Puppets or Seek and Destroy I hope THAT's the lineup, just so that everyone and their brother can hear and see the perversely bad waves of pure unadulterated SUCK coming from their TV.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 I can see Sum 41 doing a decent cover, since metal music was their bringing uping, and I highly doubt they would butcher a Metallica song.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 dont worry about avril doing creeping death..korn have covered it numerous times live so they probably have dibs depending on your tatses this may still be something to worry about
Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Oh no! I hope these songs are left alone: Jump in the Fire Metal Militia seek & Destroy "Master of Puppet" album "And Justice for all" album "Ride the Lightning" album The Unforgiven Sad But True Until it Sleeps Hero of the Day Fuel The Memory Remains No Leaf Clover
Guest swan Report post Posted April 4, 2003 It's confirmed a TV music special that sucks more than the Brady Bunch hour.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted April 4, 2003 I would only mark out, if Cliff showed up as the "Ghost of Metallica's past," and threatened to haunt Lars for the rest of his life.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Dude...what if Cliff returned from the grave in a Crow-like fashion and killed Lars, revealing that Lars paid the bus driver to swerve and crash the bus to kill Cliff... 0MG SW3RV3~!~ ...and tears fill the eyes of the old-school metallers, as one of the most well-known icons of metal is butchered... They should really start having the bands themselves pick the acts.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 4, 2003 Yeah but then Lars would have JA Rule do Seek and Destroy...Linkin Park do Fade to Black... While James and Kirk go "What about Disturbed for "Sad but True? and lars goes "Fuck that Noise...Puddle of Mudd will do Sad but true"...
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted April 4, 2003 What sickens me the most is that while Avril will be doing her cover they will show the real Metallica in the audience with big ass grins on their faces like this is the greatest thing.
Guest snuffbox Report post Posted April 4, 2003 This show should be fittingly pathetic
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Didn't Metallica beg and plead for this last year?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Well, James looked like he was about to cry at Aerosmith's when he realized that Metallica didn't have one...
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 5, 2003 what would be cool, is when out of the blue, Megadeth does a cover of a Metallica song... and butcher it for those who hate metallica...
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted April 5, 2003 I am most looking forward to Hetfield and company smiling like retarded hyenas in the crowd while the flavors of the month butcher EVERYTHING. Although....I'd mark if Lavigne fuckin nailed like Creeping Death or something. Solo and all. I'd buy her CD and a shirt if she came out there and just slaughtered everyone. Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Knowing the way the world works these days...She will do just that and become the Metal Queen. Move over Juliya!
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2003 I hope the Metallica fans boo and throw stuff at Avril Latrine! What a horrid choice.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Figures. I've never heard Avril say Metallica were one of her influences. (Nor do I follow her career.) I've heard her say Nirvana and Green Day, and that's about it. Damn, and I didn't think they could get much worth then the Aerosmith ICON.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 6, 2003 If they wanted Modern MTV People why not just... Disturbed-Sad But True Korn-Creeping Death Chevelle-??? Kid Rock-??? Saliva-Fade to Black Creed-One Sum 41- ??? Stone Sour-??? Sure, not all of them are good but AT LEAST they are Rock Bands...and they can still have the MTV auidence feel normal... Logic says...Shadows Fall WOULD be here but you know that won't happen unless Fred Durst gives them a verbal blowjob...
