Guest swan Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 To say I'm shocked is an understatement: http://www.blistering.com/news/newsdet.php3?ID=4751 Even more shocking is the radio play. Has anyone heard them on a rock station yet? Great to see the success. Excellant band. Ozzfest will only help the cause.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Odd. But honestly the band is really not that good at all.
Guest Mole Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Wow, this is the first time an all black band made the Top 200? I thought that would of happened a long time ago.
Guest swan Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Wow, this is the first time an all black band made the Top 200? I thought that would of happened a long time ago. Not in the US. People would rather buy Limp Bizkit and Britney Spears.
Guest redbaron51 Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Good for them. Now all they need is some death metal, and some hardcore music, up there aswell...
Guest Lethargic Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Wow, this is the first time an all black band made the Top 200? I thought that would of happened a long time ago. hahahaha They are NOT black. They PLAY "black" metal.
Guest Choken One Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 How hard can it be to break top 200 with shit like Avril and Ja reigning supreme?
Guest swan Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 How hard can it be to break top 200 with shit like Avril and Ja reigning supreme? Considering how many albums a year are released about 90% plus don't crack it.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Does anyone actually have access to the Billboard Top 200 on the web? I believe it's a pay thing.
Guest swan Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Does anyone actually have access to the Billboard Top 200 on the web? I believe it's a pay thing. http://www.billboard.com/bb/charts/bb200.jsp You can get the top 100 without paying. I know soundscan is a pay thing too but some sites will pass info along like Metal Sludge
Guest El Satanico Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 They're getting radio play? That's amazing.
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Ugh. As a Filth fan, I can honestly say that what I've heard from the new album absolutely blows ass. I think they hit their peak with Midian. Now its a slow fall to the bottom.
Guest NoCalMike Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 I haven't heard their new album yet. My friend has it, he said he likes it. I hope Cradle of Filth is just the beginning, unfortunately the clearchannel rock stations around here haven't play them at all, so I still have to rely on the college stations.
Guest razazteca Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 So what is the song that got them on the charts?
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 So what is the song that got them on the charts? Probably their single, "Babylon AD (So Glad for the Madness)".
Guest Steviekick Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 The top 200 chart really has nothing to do with singles and radio play; just with how many copies of the album have sold.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 So how long is it going to take for people to turn on them because of their success?? Oh.... Ugh. As a Filth fan, I can honestly say that what I've heard from the new album absolutely blows ass. I think they hit their peak with Midian. Now its a slow fall to the bottom. Odd. But honestly the band is really not that good at all. ...Nevermind In all seriousness, good to go for Cradle of F(ag)ilth. I never did like them anyways, but maybe that will open the way for some real metal to rule the charts. Mayhem? Cryptopsy? Skinless? Donde esta Shadows Fall (just for Corey there)? Six Feet Under is getting close to mainstream as well, which is alright...
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I almost bought the new album, but after hearing some bad things, I'm inclined to find someone who has it, and just burn the fucker.

Hell, I like Justin Timberlake, I'm not going to care about a little pop coming into things. I just think they've never been great.
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I didn't turn on them because they've gotten success. I turned on them because the new album absolutely sucks. Its just a coincidence that it happened to be their major label debut. Hell, AFI had a major label debut this year too, and I consider that to be their best album yet. Cradle of Filth have deteriorated to a point of no return. They used to be evil, vampyric, all that shit (hell, one of their albums was dedicated to a mass murderer), now Dani Filth seems to be intent on becoming Marilyn Manson II.
Guest Dace59 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Cradle have also be for the Mallgoth's anyway. Even Danni says they aren't Black Metal. It's more symphonic with on clump of black infulence thrown in. And to think they come from the same good old England than gave birth to Black Metal (not it's current form of course)
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Yeah, they definitely aren't black metal. More of a Goth/Symphonic Version of Death Metal, if anything.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 I never liked Dani Filth's high pitched shrieking personally..
Guest Dace59 Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Yer, actually Black Metal Vox are better.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 He's got a mean death growl, but I agree the shrieks get old fast.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Probably to a point, but whose aren't at least a little bit, anymore? I want to see them live and hear the new one, even if they've supposedly gone downhill.
