Guest RedJed Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 I was filing through a site last night at wrestling vids/DVDs and this came up. I believe this is the documentary on backyard wrestling I have heard so much about, but never knew they released it on video and DVD recently. Can anyone give any more info on this or have you seen it? I got it on order from Netflix right now, but wont get in until next week.
Guest fazzle Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 IIRC, the movie isn't a documentary, but instead a really, REALLY bad movie that just has a backyard wrestling storyline. Hell, it's currently been voted to the #2 spot on IMDB's bottom 100 movies of all time.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 The acclaimed documentary you hear about is called "The Backyard". "Backyard Dogs" is notoriously bad, with the "star" being a former Power Rangers actor. I remember Internet Celeb and occasional TSMer Jay "EI Cubano" Bower ripped it apart in one of his articles.
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Terrible, atrocious movie. But it does have Hayabusa, so if you're exceptionally markish about H, then check it out.
Guest starvenger Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Backyard Dogs deserves all the 'accolades' it's gotten and more. Even if you were to rent this for free you'd feel ripped off. But since you've already rented it, just sit back, relax, and get ready to cringe at the horror that is Backyard Dogs...
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Fuck, even Hayabusa can't make this piece of shit enjoyable.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Don't listen to it everybody, me and Rudo watched it together and he fucking loved it. I had to restrain him from beating off whenever that ex-power ranger was on. Plus, it had Hayabusa and Mr.Ganosuke in it. It can't suck. Wait. It did.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 I have no idea what this guy is talking about...
Guest RedJed Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Damn, its an actual movie about backyard wrestling? Yikes.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 It's an actual movie about two people on "the backyard wrestling circuit," that is somehow identical to a street fighting circuit.
Guest RedJed Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 It's an actual movie about two people on "the backyard wrestling circuit," that is somehow identical to a street fighting circuit. UGH
Guest hardyz1 Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 It's at number 2 on the Bottom 100 now? What overtook it? Let's find out... Manos, the Hands of Fate is number 1. They both are rated 1.5 but Manos has 3,986 reviews, while Backyard Dogs has 809.
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Manos still deserves it. Try and watch THAT without MST3K making comments.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 I had to restrain him from beating off whenever that ex-power ranger was on. The ex-Power Ranger was a guy.
Guest EI Cubano Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 The Pink Ranger was HOT, I wonder whatever happened to her. I was HORRIFIED when browsing through the movie topics and seeing Backward Dogs. If you are considering watching it, DON'T. It's not terrible in a funny way, it's terrible in a terrible, terrible way. Thanks for remembering my review Malibu, that made my night I found it in the Google cache archives as when the Smarks closed it's doors all of our archives were deleted I think. Anyway, for those interested it's here about 2/3 down the page: Backyard Dogs: Review Avoid at all costs...yep.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I must reinterate. I have no idea who this Lord of the Furry is.
Guest starvenger Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 The Pink Ranger was HOT, I wonder whatever happened to her. Which hot pink ranger? Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly, MMPR) - was on Felicity, I think she started a band or something. Catherine Sutherland (Kat, MMPR, Zeo, Turbo) - don't think she's done much else, but hey, she's got that sweet Aussie accent. Patricia Ja Lee (Cassie, Tubro, Space) - does voiceover work for anime dubbing
Guest hardyz1 Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Jay, I remember that review. If I wasn't poor I would rent it. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. BTW: Conan > Kilborn.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I must reinterate. I have no idea who this Lord of the Furry is. What's the weather like in denial?

The gestalt robots (and Amy Jo Johnson) hooked me on the series...
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Is this humidity caused by your sweat due to your feverish self-pleasuring while watching aforementioned move?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 No. It's from all the lies you are spreading. Like logs on fire.
