Guest the 1inch punch Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Thomas Jane Lands Lead Role In The Punisher Posted By Ashish on 04.04.03 Artisan Entertainment has announced that Thomas Jane will star in The Punisher, their upcoming big screen version of the popular Marvel comic book. The Punisher is being produced by Avi Arad (Spider-Man, Daredevil, X-Men) and Gale Anne Hurd (The Hulk, Terminator). Jonathan Hensleigh will be directing. The Punisher tells the story of FBI undercover agent, Frank Castle, who until now has beat considerable odds. A former Special Forces operative, he is finally moving out of the field and into a desk job – and a normal life with his wife and son. Then Castle’s world is shaken to its core by a nightmare he has longed feared: his family is executed as a repercussion from his final undercover assignment. With unparalleled intensity, ferocious intelligence and fearless actions, Castle seeks to punish the murderers – and finds the one thing he least expected: redemption. The plan right now is for the film to hit theaters during the summer of 2004. Thanks to 411 Mania
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 I'm not a comic book fan, but I liked the few issues I've read featuring the Punisher. I hope it's a good movie and not like that other one made years ago...
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Didn't Frank have a daughter in the comic? I know he had one in the movie, but the only issues I've actually owned of The Punisher were from the mid-90's when he took over the crime family. And the lack of Dolph makes Laz bitter.
Guest John Dub Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Is this focusing on the Ennis/McRea run from 2 years or so ago? I picked up the TBP on vacation and spent the whole time thinking what a great movie it would make. Thomas Jane's an excellent choice, I can really see him doing Castle well.

If youre an Ennis fan., then youve been brainwashed to believe that not a lot happened before Garth came along
Guest razazteca Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Louis Gossip Jr must be in the new one. Who is Thomas Jane, what has he done lately?
Guest Retro Rob Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Hopefully he doesnt need to save children in this one... Although, the fight scenes in the old version were pretty damn cool.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 First, yes no dolph makes Conspiracy an angry boy. Second, Thomas seems too look the part pretty well. I don't know if he can ACT the part though. Granted my view is somewhat colored by seeing him in the utter pile of excrement that was "The Sweetest Thing" but he was damn good as Mickey Mantle in 61* and as the hero in Deep Blue Sea. Here's hoping.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Thomas Jane was in Boogie Nights, The Sweetest Thing and Thursday. I don't see him as The Punisher AT ALL.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 Thomas Jane is a pretty boy, not a bad ass.
Guest Lethargic Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 The only reason nobody can picture Thomas Jane as the Punisher is because you haven't seen it yet. Just because you haven't seen him do that kind of thing before doesn't mean anything. I'm sure if we all saw Christopher Reeves before Superman we'd think WTF? Did anybody look at Hugh Jackman before X-Men and think, wow he looks just like Wolverine!! I love the casting, anytime they choose an actor over just a big name to have a big name, it's fine with me. Just wait a little while, the first time everybody sees Thomas Jane beefed up and wearing the Punisher outfit everybody will be scorching their shorts.
Guest Crucifixio Jones Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I've seen Jane as a bad ass before in Thursday; still don't see him as Frank Castle. Doubt I'll be scorching my shorts anymore than I did for Dolph.
Guest Lethargic Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 The next person that mentions that friggin Dolph movie is gonna be swimming with the fishes.
