9.) GARBAGEMAN: The boys have made friends with a group of homeless, and are worried when they start mysteriously disappearing into the night! Some Turtle-style detective work leads them to the Garbageman, an immense, smelly egomaniac, who is kidnapping the homeless for slave labor to build an empire on a foundation of garbage. Sounds like it's time for the Turtles to take out the trash!

I have to admit the last two weeks I've barely watched it, its basically been on as background noise...

I liked this ep. Only downside was the total lack of appearance by Kiroku Saki (Shredder), even as an "epilogue" sorts to mention some advancement on trying to get the TMNT.

I really liked the Homeless Professor character. The way that one hobo would just groan in pain whenever the Professor would talk about a theory was funny.

Also, this ep WAS funny.

Oroku Saki, not Kiroku Saki.

I wasn't looking forward to today's episode. Knowing full well ahead of time that this was just a detour on "the Road to Shredder-Mania", I was thinking it would just be a lame one-shot. I mean, the Garbageman? At least the Rat King came with a Rat Crossbow. You can't market that. Or can you?

The first scene with the homeless people gets us to point A, the Turtles visiting a homeless group they befriended (so we have April, Casey, Angel, and these guys, not to mention Shredder, Baxter, Hun, and some Foot who know the TMNT exist, even though most of the minors think they're in costume). Obviously, as soon as the Turtles leave, that Garbage truck kidnaps all the homeless people. I'm still not too impressed. Around this time, it happened.

The highlight of this episode was the reactions (of everyone, including Mikey) to Mikey's lame jokes. Plus, we got some Jaws references. Corey was right, this episode was funny, probably the funniest. It seemed to just be played for laughs. Then it dawned on me.

This was old-school Turtles with a little of the new era thrown in. The bad guy with slime and robotic wheelchair against joking Ninjas. And it works.

Next week is the one we've all been waiting for...

And for the life of me, I can't find a new Shredder figure. I have the Turtles and Splinter on my bookshelf (which has more toys than books) and need Chrome-Dome to 'complete the set'.
