I thought I might continue the theme of the WrestleMania IX thread with this one - especially since Mania VIII is one of my all-time favorite pay-per-views. I remember watching this on video for the first time, shortly before WrestleMania IX occured.

Jake the Snake vs. the Undertaker

Roddy Piper vs. Bret Hart

Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair

Hulk Hogan vs. Sid Justice

Right there - damn! All eight of those men had been built up huge over the previous 6-8 months. Bret's win solidified him as a top guy in the company - after all, how many people have defeated Piper on TV (or in the WWF at all)?

In addition, we got a young heel HBK (which I totally mark out for now), Heenan & Monsoon doing commentary, Savage acting like a complete nut before and after the match (even moreso than usual), and the AWESOME (I don't care what anyone says) finish to the show with Hogan and Warrior celebrating as the pyro goes off behind them. The crowd was huge, the arena looked great, Arriba McIntyre did a great job of starting the show, and the matches were - by and far - fun if not technically sound.

You know what ... I obviously think it's 2002 so if someone could change the title of the thread to 11 years - that would be super.

The finish with the Warrior run-in was AWESOME, probably one of my favorite moments ever, and Savage/Flair was great too.

Young HBK, which means 92-93. Current Day HBK is nice to have around but he's starting to turn into the neighbor that won't leave your house.
