Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted April 5, 2003 I personally wish that Austin never came back after his Flair match. But now that he was back and gone again, I hope he beats Goldberg and puts over Benoit.
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2003 The Owen comment. That's what I was thinking and it's terrible. Well if this is the end I guess thanks for the memories. BTW anyone else notice how we ALWAYS just miss Austin/Hogan?
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Not to be mean, but what is up with all those bumps on the back of Austin's head now? They were never there, or that big before.
Guest snuffbox Report post Posted April 5, 2003 You know what the saddest thing about this might be? That Owen Hart's primary legacy will be Steve Austin. wrong.
Guest Breetai Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Not having him going out giving the MEGA-RUB to an up-and comer is criminal. I'm talking about the no-selling 2 stunners and pinning clean with one finisher type mega-rub here. But then again, why should we build new stars?
Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Hmmmmmmmmmm...if this was true............what a waste of Austin.....
Guest MrRant Report post Posted April 5, 2003 What a waste? He put on one last show with The Rock. The two men who brought the WWF back from the grave and tore the place down. I think I would have rather seen one last mega match between those two then see Austin put over someone like Hardy/Benoit etc who they have no clue if they are going to be able to hold up a company. It's not like he wrestled 5-6 matches against anyone leading to a blowoff at WM. He only wrestled one "real" match and just that one match wouldn't have done ANYTHING for Benoit/Hardy/etc. Morons. Guest godthedog Report post Posted April 5, 2003 You know what the saddest thing about this might be? That Owen Hart's primary legacy will be Steve Austin. please. nobody hears the name owen hart and thinks "oh yeah, he's the guy that broke austin's neck." if anything, owen will always first & foremost be remembered for the way he died (which is equally sad). then will probably be his feud with bret, then maybe the austin thing. Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 5, 2003 Yeah...He will be known as the guy that Messed Austin's neck...But not as much as he will be known as "The guy that died on PPV"... Austin's return wasn't a waste...They just didn't know how long it would last...

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 6, 2003 OMG OMG NOOOOOO FUCK NO Please don't let this be true :cries: ....but well anyways..wouldn't it just be fuckin AWESOME to have Austin-Hogan next year at WM XX at MSG, no less?? You're talking the biggest star from the 1st decade of Wrestlemania, versus the biggest star of the 2nd decade of Wrestlemania, to kick off the third? And we can have the Austin-Goldberg match at Summerslam. I don't give that much of a fuck about it, really.
Guest LatinoHeat Report post Posted April 6, 2003 I can't find it on ebay either.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 6, 2003 Sure...As long as it's the Special attraction match and Jericho, Lesar, Benoit are involved in the real main event...

I'm talking about what Owen's largest impact on wrestling might have been--assuming Vince would've ever given him the chance after all the Bret stuff, Owen could have been a Main Eventer; someone truly legendary, rather than just "that wrestler that died on TV". Wrestling fans truly love Owen, but that will only be a part of his legacy. Instead, the one thing that Owen did that affected the wresting industry more than anything else was breaking the neck of one of the two greatest draws ever. I find this to be inredibly tragic and cruel.
NYU 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2003 Question. Not to be insensitive or anything, BUT.... Why is it that Goldberg gives Bret a concussion with an accidental kick and it's "ARGH ! GOD DAMMIT ! FUCK GOLDBERG !ARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH !" But when Owen breaks Austin's neck with a careless tombstone, it's "Eh, it was an honest mistake. He shouldn't be known as the man who broke Austin's neck. He's Owen Hart ! Wooo !" Just seems a little hypocritical to me....

Guest Brian Report post Posted April 6, 2003 Owen wasn't rushed into the business and careless like Goldberg was. He loved the business in fact, while goldy criticized it for a paycheck. Owen was a good wrestler, with a good long track record.

He shouldn't be known as the man who broke Austin's neck. He's Owen Hart ! Wooo !" Just seems a little hypocritical to me.... If I recall correctly, from one past argument over Goldberg retiring Bret, Goldberg did a lot more blind and careless damage to Bret's head in that one match... like kicking his head repeatedly... than one simple botched move. I'm sure that someone else will elaborate on that. I remember Bret elaborating on it one time. I forgot most of what he said but I do remember this: Bret did the figure-four around the ringpost spot, and for the move to be performed correctly, his opponent has to grab and hold onto Bret's boot as he finishes the move. Goldberg did not, and Bret's head hit the mat.
Guest magell Report post Posted April 6, 2003 Goldberg gave Hart three concussions in that match from what I've heard which is why he's at fault. Bret was in bad condition before though Goldberg was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 6, 2003 Don't forget that Bret Avoided the Doctor for a few weeks before seeing one...So maybe if he quicker to attention something could've been done...
Guest RedJed Report post Posted April 6, 2003 I'd expect more news about this to surface this week after Raw, depending on if they do anything with him on that show.........then there can be more of a gauge on what they will do with him. This weeks Observer (like Brian said) covered this, and in pretty heavy detail. Austin was in the hospital the day before Mania and although he wasn't there neccessarily for his physical problems, he was diagnosed basically how Bischoff said it on Raw to a tee. The doctor he saw in Seattle even went so far to recommend Austin not even work the match against Rock, so this is pretty serious. Notice how Rock actually did carry Austin quite a bit in that match, so there is credence to all of this news. Another addition to all of this was that Rock still was penciled to win the Mania match in the same manner he did even before the news about Austin because public the day of the show to the office. For what its worth, I don't expect him to work at all other than MAYBE SummerSlam in a match (maybe against Goldberg) and then I would think that may be it. WWE is already working towards Rock v. Goldberg in a rematch from Backlash for Mania XX (since Rock wont be back til then), believe it or not.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 6, 2003 I do believe that it Was legit...No Arguement there...I just don't know if this was just a Wear/Tear situation or is a Permanant career ender... I believe Rock was likely always booked to go over...Your right...Rock did Carry the match...Which is different then usual...Austin usually carries the match...
