Guest crandamaniac Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Ok, EBGames has a refurbished Dreamcast with free game for $29.95. I'm considering getting one, but I have a couple of questions 1. Should I buy one? 2. I read that it can play burned cd games without a mod chip. Is this true? 3. What all do I need to make my own games on cd (programs and what not)? 4. Dealing with games from other systems, what all do I need to play these games? Somebody help a brutha out!
Guest EQ Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 What free game does it come with? 1. Should I buy one? Yes. 2. I read that it can play burned cd games without a mod chip. Is this true? Yes. 3. What all do I need to make my own games on cd (programs and what not)? You need a program to download the games from (mIRC, etc) and burning software that can handle the images (I think DiscJuggler is the one that's used for DC games). If you get your hands on a burned DC game, you can just copy the game like you would another data cd and it will work. Also, many burned games require that you use a boot disc before you can play, but you should be able to get the boot disc wherever you DL the games. 4. Dealing with games from other systems, what all do I need to play these games? If you're referring to using the DC as a means to run emulators for SNES/NES/Genesis games, then I know it's possible, but it didn't work that well back when I tried it (probably +2 years ago).
Guest razazteca Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 DC Emulation Console Vision go there and download what you need Then get Nero and Disc Juggler For other console emulation get the Self Boot Indulcer and SBI packs, its the easiest way to play SNES, , Nes, Game Boy, Sega Master System games plus you can put them all on one disc.
Guest Downhome Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Every true video game fan should own on in my opinion. If you want to know more, or want games or the such once you have one, let me know.
Guest AndrewTS Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Believe it or not, in some ways the DC is more powerful than the PS2. And with the library of games its got, it's easily my favorite of the newer systems.
Guest Karnage Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Could anyone like burn me a whole CD-R with the SNES emulator and it's library of games?
Guest Renegade Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 If you want to play import games, try and track down DC-X. It should be pretty cheap and from my experience it works with almost any import game.
Guest razazteca Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Utopia boot disc 1.2 does the same thing and its free.
Guest Downhome Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Utopia boot disc 1.2 does the same thing and its free. Or you could just burn the import games and then you don't need any boot disc at all, heh.
Guest Downhome Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Could anyone like burn me a whole CD-R with the SNES emulator and it's library of games? The full speed version of the SNES Dreamacast emulator is not out yet. You could have an SNES disc full of games, but many of them are just a pain to play. Just wait untill the full speed version comes out. I could however help you with a NES disc and a Sega Genesis disc, both of which have just about every game for the respective system.
Guest EQ Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I could however help you with a NES disc and a Sega Genesis disc, both of which have just about every game for the respective system. Can you hook me up aswell?
Guest Karnage Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Hook me up with an NES disc. The only problem is I don't have broadband or a burner...
Guest Downhome Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I will burn off what you want if you send me blank CD's to do so, PLUS something already stamped and addressed so all I have to do is put the burned CD's in whatever you send me to send back to you, and just plop it in the mail or the such. I also do not ask for ANYTHING in return. Instead, I simply leave it for whoever I do this for to decide if they feel it's worth giving me anything for doing it. Have it be blank CD's for me, money, or whatever. It's just up to you. Just PM me here telling me what you want, and then I'll give you my address. I don't really think I should do so here. I've done this before, so it's no big deal for me.
Guest crandamaniac Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 Thanks for everybody's help. I picked one up today, but need a stupid RF Adaptor to hook it up

Guest crandamaniac Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 Ok, now it's hooked up and everything runs great. I downloaded a Genesis emulator and already had a few games on my computer. when I went to play them they didn't have any sound and were really slow. I'm using DCgen. Is there a better Genesis emulator out there?

It's a Genesis disc with just about all of the games that was on the console.

Guest JohnSkins Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Allright, I consider my self fairly skilled with ROM's and shit, but I've had a HELL of a time finding anything worthwhile when it comes to DC ISO's so could someone fill me in on how to get some new games for a swank system? Much thanks.
Guest razazteca Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 Rule #1 You don't talk about DC ISOs Rule #2 You don't talk about DC ISOs Rule #3 PM Downhome for info or just look in newsgroups, Direct Connect, Hotline, WinMx A great console has died and its name was Dreamcast. Did I mention that Fight Club is one of the greatest movies ever made, you notice something new after every viewing.
Guest Renegade Posted April 13, 2003 Report Posted April 13, 2003 You can also find some on Kazzaa if you search on p2p. Oh Downhome, do you have any Dreamcast ISOs on WinMx?
