TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2003 For me there's no argument as to the fact that right now Bernie Mac is the best comedian in the business. This guy can make gold out of shit(ie. skits on SNL last night). I mean watching that Stooges rip on SNL was painful but the very first part("Hellllo, hellllo, hellllllllo, (Bernie in a grumpy voice) Hello.") made the whole skit. Same can be said for half of last night's show and, form what I hear, Head of State as well. Then we have The Bernie Mac Show which is bar none the best comedy on television right now. 2 weeks ago in the episode with Chris Rock who didn't laugh when they hadt hat conversation about/with Shaq. That was comedy gold. In conclusion, IMO, Bernie Mac is curretnly the bets in the business. Who is IYO?
Guest Karnage Report post Posted April 6, 2003 David Chapelle.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted April 6, 2003 Until he dies or officially retires, George Carlin's pretty much always going to have my vote. But Dave Chappelle's stand-up is top-notch as well.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 6, 2003 Louis Black from the Daily Show, he brings the angry style comedy of Sam Kennison and does it well.

Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted April 6, 2003 I'm really enjoying the Dave Chapelle show and his standup is great. I've been a big fan of Mitch Hedburg for about five years now and always mark out when I see him on anything.

Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted April 6, 2003 George Carlin I can always count on to make me laugh and point out how lame both Conservatives and Liberals can be. Chris Rock. Dave Chappele's show is great. Robin Williams, his New York show was hilarious. I have noticed a big back lash against him, but to me, he still is one of the best in stand up, and he made two solid movies last year, One Hour Photo and Insomiac. Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted April 6, 2003 Gotta go with David Cross here. A bit of a niche comic, but I'm in that niche I guess.
Guest MrRant Report post Posted April 6, 2003 George Carlin. There's a reason for the period.
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted April 6, 2003 Carlin's a funny guy and a hell of a speaker, but I think he gets a little too preachy sometimes. Chappelle is the obvious choice, but aside from him, there are a lot of not-so-well-known guys coming up who could be true players in the future. If you watch Comedy Central Presents on a fairly regular basis, I think you'll agree. Guys like Jim Gaffigan, Lous C.K., and Tom Papa are some extremely funny ones. Stephen Lynch is another one and he's probably one of the more controversial ones out there too.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted April 7, 2003 George Carlin just below him are Robin Williams, Dave Chapelle, Mitch Hedburg and Dane Cook
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted April 7, 2003 He may not be the best, but Chris Rock was the first thought that came to my mind...
Guest Mole Report post Posted April 7, 2003 Even though he doesn't really do stand up anymore, Seinfeld will always be number 1 to me. Chris Rock, George Carlin, and Dave Chapelle
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted April 7, 2003 Talking about guys on Comedy Central, I have one that I wouldn't qualify as "The Best," but he's still pretty damn funny... Pablo Francisco. The "Movie Previews" bit is priceless. "One man... One taco stand... This summer, Arnold Schwarzenager is... Little Tortilla Boy." GOLD.
Guest Nanks Report post Posted April 7, 2003 Al Murray - only the brits and maybe the Aussies will know who I'm talking about. Jerry Seinfeld - was always hilarious, real shame he doesn't really do anything anymore John Cleese - any episode of Python or Fawlty Towers proves me right
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted April 7, 2003 Carlin is #1 for me, but I didn't enjoy his last two offerings as much; You Are All Diseased seemed kind of preachy and Complaints and Grievances just fell a little flat (of course, he did it a few months after 9/11, so he probably toned it down a little). Guest cartman Report post Posted April 7, 2003 I agree the show after 9/11 was very tame and even somewhat lame. I have ALL of his other shows on tape though. Greatness Personified.

HurriShane 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2003 I'd say that George Carlin is on top of my list. But behind him are Dave Chappelle, Mitch Hedberg, Arj Barker, and Bill Mahr.
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted April 7, 2003 Al Murray - only the brits and maybe the Aussies will know who I'm talking about. Jerry Seinfeld - was always hilarious, real shame he doesn't really do anything anymore John Cleese - any episode of Python or Fawlty Towers proves me right Seinfeld does actually still do stand-up here and there. He doesn't do as much of it, but he's out there traveling every now and again. He came to our somewhat small city here back in December of '01 which is a good sign for anyone in a smaller area that wants to see him, as it should give you some hope. Last time I checked, he was still doing some touring.
