Favorite Sports Announcer....

At one point I'd have said Davidson, but that was I knew him more from national games. After watching so many Rangers games this year, I realize that he's not nearly as good as I once thought.

One thing I've noticed about Davidson is that he's consistently about 5 plays behind the announcer and color guy. I know that Thorne and Clement can go relatively fast, but Davidson's talking about the guts of Peter Forsberg from a play that happened about 12 minutes ago. I mean, it's great that he puts guys over like that, but it gets annoying after a while.

Other than that, he stays quiet for most of the games. He's a good announcer though.

Brian Engblom on ESPN isn't that bad either.

The Indians used to have an announcer on their local free TV games named Jack Corrigan. Total homer, but he was classic...

On possible home run balls down the line: "Stay fair, baseball!"

And the classic Corrigan HR call: "Touch 'em all time for (insert player name here)."

The Jack & Mike team on WUAB was great. Of course, the Indians becoming the money siphening whores that they are now, put every single game on FSN and Corrigan gets the ax. Sad day.

I think Brad Nessler gets overlooked as a PBP guy. He meshes really well with Walton and Tolbert on NBA games on ABC and his college football calls are all good.

And if you want to talk college football, Keith Jackson is still the man. Old skool all the way.

A honorary vote for that person who calls the White Sox games; especially his Homerun play-by-play...

Ken "Hawk" Harrelson.

Don't applaud that. He sucks. Fitting that he's the WGN announcer for the bastard team in Chicago and not the Cubs.

I don't mind the White Sox announcers. Skip Carey and his band of foolish Cubs announcers should be beaten with a sack of doorknobs though.

Do I have to supply my own doorknobs?

I can hook you up with doorknobs.

You provide the sack of which to put the doorknobs in.

Marty Brennaman and Joe Nuxhall for the Reds. They are even entertaining when the Reds are getting mauled. It's always fun to find out from Marty when it turns into an "ol' fashioned BUTT-kicking." And when they announce the attendance... "25,347 turned out for today's (pause for effect) titanic struggle."

- "Here's the pitch and this game is under way."

- Of course, their signature calls...

Marty: "And this one belongs to the Reds!!"

Joe: "This is the old left-hander rounding third and heading for home... goodnight everybody."

Outside of that...

Bob Costas

Al Micheals

Bob Ueker

and Mel "How about that?" Allen. I miss him on TWIB.

Someone mentioned Jack Corrigan for the Indians TV games. The Indians also have a radio broadcaster named Tom Hamilton. Total homer, but he's very enthusiastic, particularly when he's working with Mike Hegan.

Listening on Gamecast and the such, I am biased towards the Royals men (well.. just Denny). I also listened to Uecker and if the Royals weren't playing, I would have kept listening to the Brewer feed.

Kevin Harlan is pretty good, he used to do Chiefs games here.

Hamilton is AWESOME, but yeah, his homer-tendencies have gotten outta hand the last couple years... Still, you can't deny: "There's a drive..... a-WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back! GONE!!!"

And Mike Hegan needs some respect. He was gold with Jack. He works well with Rick Manning. He's good with Hamilton. Shit, he even makes John Sanders passable and that man is the most boring play-by-play man I've ever heard.

And whoever said Bob Costas should be shot. As a studio guy, fine. Put him in a booth and my ears bleed.

And Kevin Harlan? AWESOME. He does hoops for TNT... Gotta love: "(insert player name)! Oh, with NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE!", his signature line on dunks.

Oh come on! Bob in the booth rocks as long as he is with two other guys. The World Series he did with Joe Morgan and Bobv Ueker was classic!

Bob Costas is awful.

Put him in a booth with Tim McCarver during a Yankees game and all you would hear is awkward moaning for 3 hrs because they'd spend the whole time jerking each other off, watching the Pinstripes take the field.
