Guest Nanks Report post Posted April 7, 2003 For those who caught the 3rd round of F1 for this year in Brazil, what's the opinions on the new tyre rules?? I think the carnage that ensued and ultimately warped the result of the race and left the 3rd placegetter unable to take his place on the podium are proof that teams should be allowed to have whatever tyres they please on hand, for safety's sake. The difference isn't that huge, there's only 2 brands of tyres going round, so could it really have a massive impact on the results?? I'm enjoying seeing the battle for the points so much more widespread though.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted April 7, 2003 If I remember hearing right they are only allowed two types out of dry, intermediate, and full wet tires? If that is right then it is absurd to not allow tires for all conditions. I also think their red flag rules needs some changing. Fisichella should have won that race. Going back to the last completed green flag works, too much can change in two laps to penalize the drivers that advance in that time period. BTW, have you heard anything about Alonso? Guest Nanks Report post Posted April 7, 2003 Both Webber and Alonso are fine and will be racing at San Marino. Alonso being taken away was precautionary only. Webber said that he wasn't surprised he stacked coz his rear tyres were just about worn down to slicks by that stage of the race.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 7, 2003 By the rules, Raikonen, would have won the race, because Fischella had the lead for one lap. But also, if the race ends on a red flag, after 3/4 of a race, and can not continue, the person in the lead wins the race. Besides, it shouldn't have been a race anyways
