I hope he gets fucking curbstomped. Phelps is picketing because the Presbyterian church Rogers attended doesn't meet Phelps' standards of adaquate hatred of gays.

I read some of it. This guy is a complete dumbass. Talk about abuse of religion. Mr Rogers brought a lot of joy to many kids, this one included. His actions are disgracefull and this guy could use a good kick in the nuts. Hey Mr Phleps. Once again, gays don't choose to be gay, they are born gay. And since they are born gay, I highly doubt that God would care, just as long as they were good people. Mr Phelps here loves to spread hatred and is a prime example of idiots who abuse the First Ammendment.

Well, again, to me it's not really so much a gay thread (because it isn't, and I know if I dont' say that someone will say "YEAH JOBBER WE GET IT you don't like homophobes!!") it's that this asshole wants to ruin this guy's funeral, and it's the last chance his family has to say goodbye to him.

What kills me is this is the impression of Christians people get. Going around proclaiming hatred does not endear anything except more hatred.

 

When he came to Kentucky (lay off the jokes, I hear them enough), one pastor in Owsely County (I believe that's right) wrote this guy and asked him not to come because it would disrupt outreach and ministry programs. So now, Mr. Phelps says that Owesly County has been corrupted by the Devil and that everyone there is evil.

The play is about Matthew Shepard. Phelps also says that all the "tawdry lies of the play can't buy Matt a drop of water to cool his tongue or a day off of his eternal sentence, and all who think differently will join Matt in hell."

 

The university where the play will be at is known for its very liberal student body, and I would imagine there would be decent amount of people counter protesting Phelps.

If Rogers was PCA (as I am), I can say that this guy is right on the money: we don't hate. We believe it's unbiblical to hate people. Anyone that attempts to justify it biblically is distorting things greatly. Hatred of people has no place in the church.

Fred Phelps is a boil on the anal cavity of humankind. His one note "message" of hate and persecution is completely antithetical to the Bible's message (at least NT, Old Testament gave meaning to the term "Wrath of God"). I'm glad I don't live in Pittsburgh, because I'm tempted to meet him at the memorial service and stop his face into something resembling Chunk from the Goonies, all the while screaming "God doesn't hate fags! He hates YOU!"

 

Yes I know that's somewhat hypocritical of me based upon what I typed above, but I've had the misfortune of coming across his little screeds, and every time I feel the need to scrub my eyeballs clean with a Brillo pad afterwards. He's a hatemonger and a bad face to Christianity, and deserves to get stomped into oblivion.
