Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted April 7, 2003 Unlike alot of 90s fueds in All Japan, there isn't really a clear cut "Best One" from the Misawa and Co. vs. Jumbo and Co. six man tag matches. While the 4/20/91 match gets the most love, it's still tough to declare it head and shoulders above the rest of them. Personally from the four I've seen, I find the 10/28/90 match to be slightly more superior to 4/20/91. Everyone just seems to bring more hate in this one. I find the Kawada/Taue stuff to be a bit more intense(even more cheap shots and rule breaking), while Misawa is alot more focused on Jumbo(as evident by the spot where Jumbo tags out, but Misawa pays no attention to Taue, and just follows Jumbo outside to continue to the assault). And instead of the lengthly legwork that made up the body of 4/91, you get the brief but bloody and sickening nose work on Kobashi in 10/90. What's everyone elses thoughts? Guest Tim Cooke Report post Posted April 7, 2003 10/28/90 is my favorite as 4/20 does drag a tad. Tim
Guest XdojimeX Report post Posted April 7, 2003 Fooch playing kick ball with Kobashi's nose is way too much fun. I'll give a vote for 4/20 though. Kobashi's face in peril is a bit on the never ending side but as whole the match has a more epic quality to it IMO. You guys ever see 5/22/92? Its probably the funnest one to me since its sort of the unofficial blow off to the whole pairing. The last couple times they headlined with the big six man it didnt have quite the same amount of energy, you could sense the crowds we're getting burned out on the match but the guys seemed determined to give it one more run in this one. Hitting all the classics spots, fun triple teams, both sides playing to the crowd big time, tons of shit talking back and forth (Kawada flipping off Team Jumbo is the best), and of course the faces winning in the end. They just seem to be having a blast through the whole thing.
Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted April 9, 2003 5/22/92 is indeed a blast to watch. Jumbo and the gang are completely relishing in their roles a heels with choking, eye rakes, cheap shots, and even doing distract the ref spots. The crowd is even "booing" the hell out of Jumbo during the arm raise. There is just so much fun stuff going, and laugh out loud moments like Fuchi screaming,"Nooooooooooooooooooo!" when Kobashi hooks him up for the Rolling Cradle. Kawada standing on Taue's head, while Kobashi points and laughs at Jumbo is another good one. The ending was also one of the best of the 6 man tags, and a fitting way to wrap the series up. Guest DragonflyKid Report post Posted April 11, 2003 I still have to see 10/28/90, don't know how I missed getting it. 4/20/91 was great and is probably my favorite with Kobashi and his knee getting destroyed for 10+ minutes. Not a six-man but has anyone seen AJPW Fan appreciation day 4/18/92? It was Misawa/Kobashi/Kawada/Kikuchi VS Tsuruta/Fuchi/Ogawa/Kimura. I saw it on Tabe's site and he rated it ****3/4 but I was highly disappointed. The pace was slow and it seemed like they were trying to stretch it out. Fuchi and his antics were the highlight with Kimura looking out of place. Alot of the six-mans had more action in them compared to this match despite this one being so long so I wouldn't really recommend it. The rules of the match didn't help much either as they took away some of the potential drama. JWP Thunderqueen was worlds better than this.
