Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Okay, Shut Your Mouth has been out for almost six months, and most people on here are pretty familiar with it... so then, what should THQ do to make the next game better?

Guest Insane Bump Machine Report post Posted April 8, 2003 - submission holds have to last longer, by hammering on the buttons the victim should be able to either crawl to the ropes or break the move (I think they already announced such a feature for the next game) - tag team finishers - improve the collission detection. It's OK now, but why the hell can't the partner break a submission move in a tag match? It's so annoying when the computer puts me in a submission finisher right in front of my partner and he can't do anything about it other than attack the referee. Not to mention that CPU partners don't attack the referee. You should also be able to counter high-flying moves with a defense dropkick etc. - more moves of course - entrance attire -edit or at least copy the existing wrestlers in CAW - multiple CAW attires -third-person perspective when walking around in season mode -improve the HiaC there's more, but that's all I can think of right now. Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 8, 2003 The Sims ripoff, WWE Sports Entertainment in this game you get to choose from several characters to use -- ring rat, promotor, backyard mark, announcer.
Guest ElectricRaccoon Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Consistent selling. Also, it's not feasible, but I'd REALLY like to see a Move Edit feature.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Less Stars, so more room for CAWs andMoves. Submissions with break out animations, and let go animations. Same for pins. Crawling to ropes animations. Variable submission lengths.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Breaking submissions would be nice. An option to have it normal (where you win or lose), or to work a match (being completely in control of whether you kick out of pins or get out of submissions). I'd love sitting down with a friend and completely working and putting together a great match. Without worrying about the computer deciding it's time to be pinned. I know the opponent can "let go" of the pin but I want to kick out.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 In theory, having the biggest roster around is good on paper, but in all my time with SYM I can't say I've ever used Chuck, Billy, Mark Henry, Rikishi, or Torrie Wilson more than once or ever, so maybe trimming the fat (no pun intended with 2 of the names in there) wouldn't be a bad idea. As someone already said, the CAW features in No Mercy were great. You had entrance attire and 3 other slots for different outfits, and that is needed in future games. I also think, just like WCW Revenge up to No Mercy, a wrestlers attire should be allowed to be edited. It's kind of silly that people have to post HBK CAw Forumlas when he's already in the game, but he doesn't wear wrestling tights in the game so what can you do. Also, when I was playing Pride, I noticed the fake CAW music didn't, you know, sound liek cheesy fake video game music. The "Original Themes" really need to sound better. Also, space providing, they should throw in themes for the hell of it. "Real American" was a nice touch in SYM, but where was the dX music? I think maybe replacing "Original Theme" with classic, no longer used WWE or WCW theme music would be a good idea.
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I'd love to see them throw in some old PPV and TV sets as unlockables. There have been some PPV sets in the past that were REALLY swank and it would be nice to see those on a new PS2 game.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I'd love to have the No Way Out 2001 set (the sweet one in Vegas)
Guest papacita Report post Posted April 8, 2003 They should have managers like they did in No Mercy/WM2000/etc. They kinda tried it with Smackdown 2, but they'd never stay at ringside once the match started. Basically, they should take manager mode and apply it to other matches. Survivor Series matches. They need them.
Guest Renegade Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Actually have a good combat system which can be actually mastered rather than mashing at the counter button.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Fire Pro has submission break out animations, and a system that needs to be mastered (shameless pimping) But it needs to be built on.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Good points, everyone. I agree with the fact that more moves need to be in the game (without certain moves I can't create Low-Ki the way I want to), better that than wrestlers no one uses, such as the ladies.... If I'm not mistaken (and of course I could be), the females don;t even have a title in SYM. Aside from the quite limited cheesecake, why even have them in? FI they're going to go a particular place, go all the way instead of being half-assed about it. One of my major beefs is when you form a stable, the majority of tag team matches you have should be with your partner in the stable, regular or six-man. More consistent run-ins (or maybe a controllable run-in) would be wonderful. The CAW feature is much better than what was in JBI, but it still needs improvement... and while I understand the need to install the unlockable movesets, they should be kept strictly to movesets and areas, instead of clothing, alternate costumes and the like. Now that I think about it, THQ could not in all good sense trim the not oft used wrestlers, in that everyone on the roster at the time of the game's creation HAD to be in the game.... even though you can see who has higher importance in the game and who doesn't.... Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Double Post. if there was one thing I hated it was the Fire Pro system. There has to be a compromise somewhere between precision and button mashing, though I'll be damnd if I know what it is. Survivor Series? Since the actual PPV went away from what made it famous, why should they represent it in the game? I have to admit that in the tag team and six-man variant matches, using a submission match when you know your opponent is on his last legs ends things with no problem.... or vice versa... breaking submission holds would be good, having someone else break them is even better. Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Report post Posted April 8, 2003 How about an Edit-An-Arena? This would be especially cool for you people with indy worker CAW's. Basically, you'd choose between the size of the venue (anywhere between a Rec. Center and a Dome), and then edit banners (much like editing the words you spell out on the CAW's), entrances, etc. Also, add "the crowd" to the different special areas where you can fight. It looked really shitty on Smackdown 3, but if it's added where the crowd members look more like the wrestlers in their realism, and a few can be thrown around, it'd be fun. Guest papacita Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Survivor Series? Since the actual PPV went away from what made it famous, why should they represent it in the game? Well, the elimination format was used as late as 2001, and it's still a fun game mode. Survivor Series matches were one of the few things I liked about Attitude. One minor thing that's bugged me about the CAW in Smackdown games, and that's the lack of braids, specifically cornrows. There have been more than a few wrestlers with cornrows, and as popular as the hairstyle has become over the last few years, I have no idea while they leave them out game after game. If they put nothing else in the game, just give me a GOOD set of cornrows and I'm satisfied.
Guest Memoirs of an Invisible Chevy Report post Posted April 9, 2003 Better parts for CAW such as hair, tights, facial hair, ect... - and these parts shouldn't be obscure shit that one will never use. I only use 1/28 of the hair/facial hair options they give. Put in the tights of older wrestlers. Older, foreign, or indy wrestlers are who the people basically make. So put their parts into the CAW. Edit-a-wrestler appearence would be boss. Have the music of older wrestlers. As well as a few ne tunes. And now funky shit. Its all funky now.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted April 9, 2003 I liked being able to control all the lights in Raw for Xbox. I wish I could use that "The Videos: Ramped Up" DVD WWE put out for new wrestler videos, but that won't ever happen it seems. And if it did, only Xbox has the hard drive to do it. Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted April 9, 2003 I want to see blood, just so every stupid twelve year old fuck at Gamefaqs can stop asking for it. ..morons.. Realistically? Entrance wear, more stuff to wear (shirts, pants, etc. I know you can make them, but it's a pain in the ass.)..lots of music, more nicknames..the ability to have the Fink call height/weight (just like LOW). Normally I'd like submission breaks, but I wish they wouldn't. Sometimes career mode is just impossible w/o a submission finisher, because the idiots keep breaking up pinfalls. And when you're stuck in three way/more matches regularly..yeah. Hell, while we're asking for miracles, just get the guys to port SD to Xbox, slap a "Raw" label on it, put music rip + downloadable content, and THEN we're talking. Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 9, 2003 The more of this edit an arena, and music and stuff you have, the less room you have for actually wrestling stuff. Personally, I'd rather have a non branded game, with out too much flash, and just loads of CAW and Move space, and all the room from complex submission useage, and alike. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted April 9, 2003 I'll tell you what they need to do. Make SATURDAY NIGHT SLAM MASTERS 3d. That is all.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Report post Posted April 9, 2003 - better crowd interaction, they have to work on this. We all know that amazing crowd heat can make a match much better. Some stuff I'd like to see/hear the crowd do: booing heel taunts, booing cheating, booing DQ finishes and countouts, rallying behind the face when he's in a submission move or gets double-teamed, real chants (R-V-D, Rocky sucks, You Suck, Shane's a pussy, Ass-Hole, We want tables etc.) major pop for a face finisher and a face win, major heat for heel finishers and heel wins. I think that the game would be much more fun with a realistic crowd - somehow eliminate the load times between entrances, before the match and before the celebration. I want the music and the celebration to immediately kick in when I got the pinfall, just like the real thing. - If there are champions in the match I want the belts to be around so that I can do belt shots, moves on the belts etc. You see this all the time in the real thing, it's time to include that in the game. - the referee should be more strict in tag matches. If I'm playing with 3 friends it's almost impossible to do a normal tag match because everybody is always interfering and attacking the referee so that they don't have to wait on the apron and the game doesn't do anything to prevent that. My idea: If someone constantly interferes the referee should give him a warning. If he does it again--->DQ. Same thing when somebody attacks the referee and doesn't knock him out right away. - the referee should raise the winner's arm. a small thing, but I'd like to see it. - more referee stuff: he should warn me if I do moves in the ropes. When I use a submission hold and the opponent reaches the ropes the referee should count to four until I have to release the hold - if I do a catapult or some other move where I throw the opponent right into a wall or the cage he should actually smash into the damn thing. - double KO spots would be nice. - If I'm already 20 minutes into a match and manage to hit a stunner out of desperation it would be great if it would take me longer to get up after the move. It may piss me off if the opponent manages to kick out of a slow cover, but it would be really cool anyways.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 9, 2003 Crowd Reaction =/= Good Match Most of the chants stuff, besides the calling chants are done in Fire Pro. If you dont want load times, fine something Cart or PC based. The ref rasied the winner's arm in SD4, before their victory pose (the slap it away if heel)
Guest Insane Bump Machine Report post Posted April 9, 2003 I own Fire Pro, but this topic is about smackdown. and I know that a great crowd doesn't actually raise the quality of a match. But I think you know what I meant, no need to be a wise-ass about it
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 9, 2003 This is about the next WWE, not the next smack down. But that wasn't serious. Having a hot crowd in a wrestling game does help, I know. More atomsphere. But if other games can do it, the features can easily be taken into a WWE game I'd think, because you're not taking a new process from stratch.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Report post Posted April 9, 2003 OK then. I really hope that THQ and their developers concentrate more on actual gameplay and atmosphere improvements instead of implementing stupid stuff like the idiotic story mode in WMXIX. Another thing I would like to see are multiple arenas. In SYM you have different entrance ramps but it's always the exact same arena. They could at least include the Safeco Field for Wrestlemania.
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted April 9, 2003 They actually had like 3 or 4 different arenas in SYM. There just wasn't a whole lot of distinction between them, except for the Wrestlemania arena, which, by the way, looked absolutely awful. The set was fine, but the arena itself looked like garbage. I'd like to see them get a little more creative in naming places too. Calling the place the "Smackdown Arena" for every single show was pretty dumb. I'd like to see them change the main camera angle so that the entrance ramp is on the side, not the background. The only place for an exception to this would be PPVs at MSG, which has the old school entrance area.
