Guest Brian Report post Posted March 22, 2002 WWF RAW - 1/21/02 Steve Austin comes down to the ring. He says that after last night at the Royal Rumble, he wants a shot at Triple H to get back his title shot. Flair comes out. He says he agrees with Austin. Austin deserves another shot against HHH tonight, for the WCW title shot at No Way Out and the WWF title shot at WrestleMania. Jericho’s music hits and he says Austin hasn’t earned anything. Jericho says that he deserves to face HHH, beat him and go on to face the Rock. Jericho has so many victories against the Rock that he’ll be the first person ever to hold both titles. Flair tells Jericho he’s wrong, and tonight Austin fights HHH. <Commercial Break> Flair is talking to Regal in the back. Regal tells Flair that he wants him to sign off on a match that pits WCW and ECW against each other, winner take all. Flair tells Regal he has a match later tonight to get ready for. Rey/Juventud/X-Pac vs. Tajiri/Funaki/Helms X-Pac and Tajiri start out in the ring. X-Pac goes low first and right after the knee. After a minute of working the knee, X-Pac gets him back into his corner and hits knee breaker. Tag in for Mysterio, and he hits a springboard leg drop to the knee. Pin for two. Rey breaks out the lucha submissions. Tag for Juventud and he goes right on to the knee. Tajiri begins to fight out, with a kick on his back to Juvi’s head. Juvi immediately tag X-Pac around 3:50, but X-Pac gets Tajiri up and whips him into a neutral corner. Tajiri goes for the tarantula, but X-Pac break it. X-Pac tries to throw an elbow but Tajiri counters with a kick to the head. X-Pac stagger back then races for a tag as Tajiri sells the knee. Rey is tagged in, and he races to Tajiri and knocks him off the apron. Tajiri starts to get up on the outside as Rey goes for a tope. He makes a blind tag to Juventud before doing it, and hits Tajiri. Juventud gets on the apron and hits an Asai moonsault after Rey props up Tajiri. Juventud and Rey get up and try giving Tajiri a double suplex, but Tajiri drops out and hits a double dropkick. Rey and Juventud fall back, but Tajiri can’t get up. Rey and Juvi throw Tajiri back in the ring before the ten, and Juvi slides in. Tajiri tries to get up but Juvi hits a dropkick to the back of his head. Pin for two. Juventud picks Tajiri up and whips him across. Tajiri comes back with the springboard elbow, and both men are down. Hot tag brings in Helms and Rey. Helms works a headlock and Rey gets him to the ropes. The action gets faster as Helms hits Rey with a plancha to the outside as Juvi and Funaki get in the ring. Funaki goes for the mat, but Juvi bring it up and the work spills to the outside. Funaki hits Juvi with a hurricanrana from the apron. X-Pac rushes over to Tajiri but Tajirir gets off the apron and pulls X-Pac into the ring post, crotching him. Figure Four from Tajiri as Rey gets rolled back in by Helms. Helms with a slingshot leg drop for two and a half. Tajiri breaks the hold on X-Pac and the ref makes them retreat. Helms whips Rey into a neutral corner but he revrses it into a roll-up. Pinning sequence by both men. Helms goes for a clothesline coming up but Rey ducks and hits him with a dropkick to the head knocking him into his corner. Double tag to Tajiri and X-Pac. Tajiri and X-Pac both favor their knees. They trade off kicks. Neither back off. X-Pac fakes a kick, and goes for a headlock. Tajiri leads him right to the ropes. Superkick from Tajiri as he staggers off. (Funaki pulls Rey, but Rey gives him a tornado DDT on the outside. Helms rushes across the ring and hits a tope on Juventud). X-Pac falls back, hits the ropes, and falls to a knee. Tajiri hits three solid kicks, limps a little after each one, then makes the pin at 11:37. <Commercial Break> Jeff and Foley welcome Matt back. Foley warns the two to keep it under control. Matt tells Jeff that he wants that title shot at No Way Out. Raven vs. Regal The brawl from the start, with Regal and Raven both opened up hardway by the four minute marks. They continue to brawl, before Regal starts to kick it to the mat with the high impact spots. Exploder gets a nearfall. Release German suplex gets a nearfall. Regal goes for a dragon suplex but Raven slips out. Regal hits some forearm and whips Raven across. He comes charging with a clothesline, he misses, Raven comes around and kicks him and goes for the evenflow DDT, bur Regal fights out of it and gets Raven in double-underhook position fore a powerbomb. Raven fights out but Regal gets him up and whips him into the ropes. Regal drops his head and Raven gets a chancery, but Regal plows him into the turnbuckle. Regal whips Raven across but Raven hold on, hits the DDT, and rolls over for the pin at 6:21. Hudson sells it as brutal and bloody win for Raven. Booker T jumps RVD in the back. He beats him down and gives him the axe kick. He says thanks for costing him the match at Royal Rumble. <Commercial Break> #1 Contender’s Match The Hardys vs. the Impact Players Lance Storm and Matt Hardy start it off. They hit the mat only to get a standstill. The tag in Jeff and Justin, who immediately catches Jeff into a headlock. Bounce against the ropes but Credible holds on and flips Jeff over. Side headlock on the ground for Credible. Jeff tries kipping-up to no success. He gets his legs over into his own headlock on Credible. Credible rolls over and gets a pin on Jeff for two. Jeff break the lock, Credible slides through. Both men standing. They tag in their partners. Storm comes charging but gets whipped into the ropes. Matt with a shoulder block. Lance back up and he comes charging again, and Matt leapfrogs it. Storm stops and gets a waistlock and pushes him to the ropes. Lance tries to roll him up, but Matt holds onto the ropes. Matt throws a southpaw clothesline, but Lance ducks and hits a backdrop. He drags Matt to his corner and tag in Credible. Credible stomps him down. He picks him up and plows his head into the corner. Hard whip across to the other neutral turnbuckle. Matt hits hard and falls. Credible picks him up and hits a neckbreaker. Pin for two. Credible pick him up and whips him across. He goes for a superkick but Matt ducks and starts hitting the jabs. Matt whips him across but Credible reverses. He kicks him in the gut and goes for powerbomb. He gets Matt up but Matt falls out and hits a desperation clothesline for a double knockout. Palumbo and O’Haire come through the crowd and pull Jeff and Storm off the apron and give them clotheslines. They get in the ring and prop up both men and hits double superkicks on each. DQ finish at 7:14. <Commercial Break> Matt tells Jeff he should have warned him that the tag champs were coming. Jericho vs. Buh Buh Ray Dudley Jericho wins at 4:53 when Buh Buh taps to the Walls of Jericho. <Commercial Break> Palumbo/O’Haire vs. D-Von Palumbo and O’Haire dominate before Buh Buh runs in around 4:30 and pulls Palumbo off the apron, and brawls with him. Sean gets whipped into the corner but reverses a D-Von charge into a spinebuster. Booker T cuts a promo in the back. He says that last night, RVD cost him the WCW championship. Tonight, he gets looked over for a title shot because Buh Buh fucking Dudley gets it. Booker’s tired of getting no respect. He came into the WWF holding both the world and US championship. He beat Undertaker before Jericho retired him. He still holds the US championship. But all everyone ever talks about is R-V-D. Can RVD do the spinaroonie? Does RVD have the US championship? Is RVD a former world champion? Booker T leaves. <Commercial Break> DDP is already in the ring when Eddie’s music hits. Eddie says that McMahon is saying that he’s not going to defend his title tonight either. Eddie is getting tired of being so limited by Vince. DDP says that isn’t a bad thing, it’s a good thing. Especially for Eddie, who’d lose no matter what. Eddie Guerrero vs. DDP Eddie and DDP start in the tie-up. Eddie works a headlock and immediately wings it into a hammerlock. Eddie chops down a knee and hits a standing dropkick to the shoulder. DDP falls on his stomach and Eddie goes for the fujiwara armbar but DDP quickly squirms to the ropes. Eddie pulls him back to the center of the ring and does an armdrag, but DDP quickly reverses and goes for the diamond cutter, but Eddie pushes him off. Eddie points to his head and DDP goes straight for a tie-up. DDP works a headlock but Eddie lifts him up and gives him a side backdrop. Eddie pins for two. Eddie picks DDP up and whips him across. Eddie throws a shoulder block knocking DDP down. Eddie off the ropes again and DDP slides over. Eddie hops him and hits the other side. DDP gets up and goes for a hip toss, but Eddie blocks and they do the flip reversal. Eddie comes off strong with a clothesline attempt, but DDP ducks. He starts hitting the jabs and gets him to the ropes. He whips Eddie but Eddie hold on, reverses, hits a shoulder block, and still holding on drags the arm. Eddie uses a figure four armbar to lock up the arm. DDP gets Eddie to the ropes and whips him across. Eddie comes off with a crossbody for two. He spins over and gets DDP in powerbomb position, but DDP get him up and over for the back body-drop. DDP stumbles, then picks up Eddie. He whips him into the corner, and gets up on the second rope and start nailing in the right hands. Eddie pushes him off, gets up on the top turnbuckle, but DDP gets up in time to crotch him. DDP gets up and hits the superplex for two and a half. DDP bounces off the ropes and hits an elbow to the chest. Pin for two and a half. He picks up Eddie and whips him into the ropes. He goes for a clothesline but Eddie ducks, starts laying in the right hands, and gets him to the ropes. He tries whipping DDP across but DDP comes out of nowhere with the diamond cutter for the pin and victory at 8:40. <Commercial Break> HHH vs. Austin Austin and HHH fight to a twenty-minute draw.
