Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted April 8, 2003 This week's edition of Raw did a 3.5 cable rating, with a five share, according to Nielsen Media Research. That is down from last week's 3.7. The high point of the show was for the 10:00 quarter hour, where the Rock wrestled Jeff Hardy and then had his face off with Bill Goldberg. That was the highest rated segment of the show, doing a 4.0. That was the highest quarter hour of the show. 1wrestling.com

Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I bet the NCAA basketball game will be blamed for this. It shouldn't since last year Raw got a 4.8 rating going up against the national title game.

Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Maybe the ratings fell off because the fans were depressed that JR quit. He'll come back and go over Jericho. JR = RATINGS DRAW

Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 So I finally pencil JR in for the Title around July? Hey, he's no nappy haired 'entertainer' like SOME folks around those parts...
Guest Downhome Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I wouldn't be suprised if they put JR in a much larger on air role. Hell, I'm sure they believe he would be a great manager and could get some guys over, seeing how over HE is. I mean, did you hear the pop and chant for him last night? It was the loudest pop that I've heard in a very long time.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Maybe it'd get even louder if he was a manager, but that would mean that Coach does Raw. We don't want that...

Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted April 8, 2003 3.5? It's gotta be the economy. and spongebob squarepants. yesiree bob, or maybe the war cause there's absolutely nothing wrong with the product itself!
Guest Downhome Report post Posted April 8, 2003 You can't judge if someone is a draw or not after one show. Give it time, wait untill at least after the upcoming PPV. Like I've said before, if Austin and Rocky couldn't provide a ratings boost, then Goldberg will not do so either. The ratings will never improve untill the writing gets better, period. Regardless of anything though, I still don't think we'll see anything much bigger than 3.5-4.0 for a very long time, no matter what they put on TV.

He can manage the new All-American APA when they come back, so they can all profess on how it's anti-American to not be behind the war, and just be good ol' Southern boys. I know it'll be so sugary-sweet it'll give us all diabetes.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Austin & Rock provided a short term boost. That suggests that people were interested in them, but when they saw what was actually happening they didn't care for it and turned it off. The ratings now suggest that people don't give a shit about Goldberg at all, other than those that are already watching.

The ratings now suggest that people don't give a shit about Goldberg at all, other than those that are already watching. One week is not enough to judge anything on at all. If anyone, I would expect you of all people to remember that. Actually, it is. What Kahran said was exactly correct--Austin's return boosted ratings for a few weeks, in a major way. It wasn't the end of MNF or the road to Mania either, because the boost was way beyond what those typically do. It was clearly Austin, and perhaps the Rock as well. Goldberg OTOH did squat for the ratings. As I've posted many times, ratings are correlated almost perfectly with buyrates and attendance. Thus, it appears unlikely that Goldberg is a signficant draw at this point. Yes, I'm surprised as well; I truly thought he was the only invididual draw left. Even with the scant evidence we have, it appears to be a reasonable conclusion that this is not the case.

Guest Super Pissed Smark Report post Posted April 8, 2003 So I guess we can officially confirm Goldberg as a disaster, a fiasco, another multi-million dollar mistake for Vince. I'm so sad, I really thought Bill was the answer. Bring on Luger.

Well, seeing that Teddy Long is on his way to remaking early 90s WCW tag team Doom, is JR going to make a new Young Pistols or something? (remembers that "new" versions of old tag teams blow) Hell, I shouldn't encourage 'em.
