Midway: NHL/NFL games to go "Pro"

Recommended Posts

Guest Jobber of the Week

So The NFL decided that they they're being protrayed in video games and made clear that all football video games with the NFL license ought to be simulations and not arcade-style with goofy levels of violence ala Midway's NFL Blitz.

"We are going to be specifically responding to the issues that the league has brought up with us," said Miguel Iribarren, Midway's vice president of corporate communications. "Their concern is with the type of hits in our game, which means we're going to have to make a few changes to be consistent with what really goes on on the field."

The result? Midway is going in a new direction, going for an EA-style simulation game.

Your thoughts?

Well, it gives us more choices (not just EA & Sega anymore), but it'll be interesting to see how they do.

No...Blitz sucked...they can only get better.

My thoughts exactly.

Blitz got SO old after awhile.

At least it was something a bit different. Do we REALLY need just another NFL or NHL game? It isn't like it they will be better than Madden or NFL/NHL/whateverK. I haven't played too much of Blitz, but Hitz, let's just say I'm a huge fan.

Yes.

Monopoly isn't a good thing.

Blitz was fun the first year, but the subsequent versions... eh. I thought the same thing happened with NBA Jam.

I hope Midway can make a good sim game, but for some reason, I'm sensing 989-levels here.

Hey maybe they will come up with something "revolutionary" that will keep Madden on their toes.

It's doubtful, but new additions help keep Madden from getting lazy which they've been needing help with lately.
