Saddam goes down

Actually the part I got a kick out of was the Iraqis dragging the decapitated Saddam head through the streets, and the little kid running with it and beating it with his shoes. Someone told me that's the worst thing you can do to a dead body is beat them with their shoes, not sure if that was from the news or if it is a part of Muslim culture or whatever.

The war isn't over yet but with Baghdad in Coalition hands it is certainly winding down...Tikrit is probably the next target cause it was Saddam's birthplace and the birthplace of many members of his regime, and I believe the remnants of the Republican Guard and Iraqi regime loyalist fighters are holed up there as well. Destroying that force and killing/capturing the remnants of the regime would mean total victory for the Coalition.

The shock and awe is for all the bluster the protesters talked about, Baghdad was taken over without a hitch.

Like somebody say before...The game is over...

If the citizens of Iraq had any vision they'd save the statues and sell them to foreign museums to reduce their massive debt. Yes, they have huge oil reserves, but they could show their new-found capitalistic spirit by selling these icons and therefore directly profiting from their former dictators. That would be quite ironic.

I don't think anyone had any doubt that the Iraqi people would be "liberated" and that we would win the war, but this is only the first step(maybe it could be considered the 2nd). What is coming though is where/when it will get super messy.

The US media is sure making a huge song and dance out of how a few people helped bring down a statue. Typical.

Supposedly, the one guy who pounded his shoe against a poster in Umm Qasr was killed by other Iraqis once the soldiers weren't around.

That was actually a more legit question about the pro-Saddam Iraqis.

Am I the only one that was thinking, as I watched the really big Iraqi guy wearing a tanktop take a sledgehammer to the statue of Saddam, that Vince McMahon could make a killing putting this guy against his new French tag team?
